It seems that the Father of Collier was a reverend and that he started his career with an MG, Frazer Nash, Singer
John Snow heir of Snow stores of Sydney without any trace of racing before 1936 ??

A Michael Collier (no relations given) married a Miss Betty Robertson at St Columba's, Pont St, London SW1 on April 30th 1930 (The Times 28/3/30, 29/4/30). As St Columba's is a Scots Presbyterian church, presumably at least one of the couple was Scottish - probably the bride.
A long time afterwards, Jacqueline, daughter of Michael Collier of The White Lodge, Dysons Wood, Oxfordshire, got engaged to Captain JS MacKenzie Young RA (The Times 5/1/63)
Connections only circumstantial of course ...

My Snow books goes into much detail, but briefly... Michael Collier had been racing for several years and when entered for Spa 24 Hours1936, things changed and he needed to advertise for a co-driver. The young John Snow answered the ad, spun a story about his(limited) motor sport experience, paid some of the entry fee, and they raced a Singer Replica which blew a head gasket after about 3 hours while doing quite well against for example the Gordini Fiats in their class. The Singer was either retired or disqualified. The two did not race together again but stayed in contact -- Snow arranging sponsored Australian tyres for Collier in various UK/European events for example
Yes, Ray that phone is on the blink. How do I get the temporary number to you?

Perhaps the answer is buried in the mid text somewhere but does anyone have the answer ?
BTW, reading the book is to appreciate the tremendous amount of research the author has carried out and it is a pity that he has only recently been able to get the book printed despite having had it virtually completed for some time, well done John Medley.
