1953 Sebring 12 Hours. Some help needed.

Does anyone have the hour by hour placings for the 1953 Sebring 12 Hours? Supposedly from what I have read in an article on him published in 1955, Masten Gregory ran as high as third in the race early on before experiencing transmission/clutch problems and retiring after 16 laps. This was a pretty impressive for him because he had only been racing for about four months (since this race was in March of 1953 and his first competitive race was in November of 1952).

I have articles for this race from Autocar and Autocourse and there is no mention of this. Roger Clark was kind enough to send me a copy of the Autosport article for this race and unfortunately, there was nothing to verify this in that article except for a generic statement about a couple of Cad-Allards following the leader closely after the Le Mans type start. Masten had driven a Cad-Allard up until this time but installed a Chrysler engine in his Allard for this race.

Autosport published a "Flashback" article the week afer the race. It confirms that Masten was driving an Chrysler Allard. (it puts it that way round). It says that first across the line at the start was Erwin goldschmitt (Cadillac-Healey) it gives the first four at the end of the fist la as Walters (Cunningham), collins (Aston Martin), goldschmitt, Spear (Ferrari)

I'm afraid you will need more than hour-by-hour lap charts because, if Masten retired after 16 laps, he would have barely made it into the second hour.

I've checked Posthumus' book World Sports Car Championship but there is no mention of Gregory in his report nor is there in the Motor Year Book 1954.
BTW the Encyclopedia of Auto Racing Greats has Gregory's Allard as being Mercury powered before he swapped it for a Clay Smith-prepared 325 b.h.p. Chrysler.
