During his period with Ferrari, Schumi was the face of the brand's F1 revival, inspiring a new generation of fans to support the Prancing Horse.

While traditionally at Ferrari, the marque is bigger than the driver, to say Schumacher was revered is an understatement, and I dare say, many fans would associate themselves more so with Schumi than Ferrari.

Therefore, this raises the question, will some Ferrari fans jump aboard the Stuttgart/Brackley express?

Fans of Schumacher will no doubt follow him to Mercedes. The tifosi are unique in that they support Ferrari regardless of who drives for them. If they take issue with Schumacher going elsewhere, they're just going to have to accept it. Schumacher doesn't owe them anything, and it's not like he sold his soul to Ferrari.

Hahah, what? Ferrari was very big before MS and they will continue to do so. Those fans who will switch over to Mercedes are not Ferrari fans but MS fans.

I know, hence the reference to him leading the brand's "revival", implying they were once great. The support has always existed, but for those with a memory, we recognise the performances haven't always matched the enthusiasm.

Have you forgot the infamous 21 year drought, or the trucks they wheeled out from 1991 to 1996, and intermittently during the 80s.

They will have Alonsofi instead but I think they won't be enough to replace the many Schufosi and Kimifosi. IMO Ferrari will lose some popularity now compared to the previous seasons when they had the two most popular drivers.

I know i supported the Todt-Brawn-Schumacher combine rather than Ferrari per se. Now with two of them (esp Michael) at Mercedes, I am defecting to Mercedes.

For me, the brand (Ferrari) is secondary compared to the people who were behind it...

Edit (...espcially with LdM in charge of Ferrari :) )

Easy for those of you who haven't found another driver to follow since he left.

For those Schumacher fans who support drivers over teams and have started following another current driver, what do we do? If Hamilton and Schumacher go in to the final race level on points and 11/26 points clear of the opposition, who do I support? Actually, not much of a dilema: I think I just have a party safe in the knowledge I can't really lose

I followed him to Ferrari, I followed him to bingo, and I'll follow him to Merc. That said, I'm now (since '96) a Ferrari fan, and I'll be hoping they do well - I imagine most "Schumi fans" will as well...

Between Webbo, Schumi and Alonso, I've got some good aggressive, reasonably similar on track attitudinal drivers to follow, can't bloody wait!

But will also be supporting Michael everywhere he goes.

I have a particular dislike for Mercedes due to its uninspiring (in my opinion) roadcars and association with McLaren.

I like Ferrari, but no doubt it was Schumacher who made me like Ferrari even more. Plus ever since Brawn left, Ferrari have usually looked like clowns in diffucult situations.

I don't really like Alonso, especially after his 2007 year with McLaren.

I hope both Ferrari and MSC do well, but I'd prefer MSC to do better (can't believe I'm saying this!). The only real difficult scenario would be Schumacher vs. Massa, who I really like as well. But I think I'd still go with MSC, the only person in F1 who has made me cry.

I don't expect much of a dilemma, it shouldn't be a problem to support a frontrunner and a midfielder at the same time.

I am tifosa since I was little and I will be tifosa all my life but at the same time, I have my beliefs and my own criteria. So if, at this moment, I don't agree with how Montezemolo & Domenicali are managing the team, I feel 100% free not to support Ferrari. I could not support them "per se"...

About Schumacher in Mercedes, I am very, very happy about it. For me, it's a gift to see him on the track again. I missed him terribly and now that Kimi made to move to the WRC, Schumi is more welcome than ever.

What a 2010 season for me! German power in F1: Schumi, Seb & Nico and Finn power in WRC: Kimi. I could not ask for more.

I will like him to win, but Ferrari will remain special for me. MS will not race forever so Ferrari will become no1 again

That is really me as well.

I follow drivers before I follow a team.

My favorite drivers change teams, and I root for them regardless of which team they drive for, and I do it before I root for Ferrari.

My favorite team IS Ferrari, so having Michael Schumacher being a Ferrari F1 racer was great.

Since Michael Schumacher retired I have thrown my support after Nico, for the real scientific reason that he is the son of my alltime favorite Keke :-)

Mercedes will have my drivers, so 2010 is going to be fun. In the event that Mercedes are not winning every single race, I hope that Ferrari will win the balance.

Been a fan of Schumacher the driver and Ferrari the team,as I've cheered for Ferrari from the pre-MS days. However, now that Alonso's at Ferrari,I don't give a rat's ass how the 'new' Ferrari perform-will only cheer for Felipe.

And Michael and Mercedes-

Well I saw the dream team as a hijack of Ferrari anyway. They came, used the money and resources and Max, then went. The bits that are still there are what I think of as "Ferrari".

That's my dilemma as well. But I've decided that if the above scenario happens next season, I will support MS. Lewis has all the time in the world to get more results.
But if MS sticks around longer, I think Lewis will get my support.

Never thought I'll have "problems" like these...
 :drunk:

Having said that, I still want Ferrari to do well. All those years supporting MS/Ferrari combo has left some loyalty for the prancing horse.

Nope. Even as a Ferrari fan, I was quite disgusted with some of Schumacher's antics and even though I could respect his ability, it was hard to respect him as a sportsman.

And while I'm usually not one big into rivalries, I've gotta say that as a BMW fan, I dont see myself cheering for Mercedes at any point(not that I dislike them or anything).

There shouldn't be any dilemma: tifosi by definition are Ferrari worshippers, and they will continue to be so. Schumacher fans (there are a couple around) will cheer for 'their' driver as usual. And the fairweather cheerleaders will cheer for whichever driver+team displays dominance: earlier it was Schumacher+Ferrari, now it could be Schumacher+Mercedes. Makes no difference to them.

No dilemma here, I feel rather spoiled.

Teams Ferrari, Sauber

Drivers MS, Massa, Vettel, Koba

The only thing that doesn't fit in for me is Mercedes.

But frankly, I rather see MS win in a Mercedes than Button.

Shouldn't be too much of a dilemma for those who want to follow success. With the dream team of Schumacher, Brawn and Todt reunited, there are bound to be plenty of winning opportunities.

Schufosi here, but a conflicted one.

I will support Ferrari I think in the constructors and Michael for the drivers title.

I hate to think what will happen though if it ends up a Michael v Alonso v Felipe battle for the drivers.

I just hope Michael blows them all out of the water so it's academic and next year we can all go back to normal :-)

This.

Tifoso for life. Schumi will always be revered for what he did for us, but as with Ross going to Honda, we bid him farewell and wish him the best of luck. I am a huge Schumacher fan for he is the best there is, but I hope he gets beaten by whomever is driving the red cars.

As above, if you switch, you were never part of the Tifosi to begin with....

I think that's a point, most schumacher fans were indeed never part of the tifosi to begin with.

But when he left the sport they had more affinity for Ferrari (owing to the decade he spent there) than any other team.

This coming season I'll support Michael in a Mercedes and hope Ferrari win the constructors. If it comes down to Alonso v Michael, I'll be supporting Michael.

But in 2011, I'll be back to supporting Ferrari and its drivers. Only one thing really transcends my support for Ferrari, and that is my support for Michael.

It's a happy dilemma, one more driver to support so cheering for Alonso, Massa, Schumacher and to a lesser extent Vettel and Hulkenberg, 2010 is gonna be great.

Team wise of course supporting Ferrari, but also Mercedes has newfound respect now that they've dumped McLaren, a bit of a soft spot for Red Bull and Williams.

That's the thing though, I don't know of any Tifosi who "hate" either of them.

Would I have liked Ross to come back to Ferrari? Would I have liked MS to race for Ferrari again? Hell yes.

However the fact that they didn't/aren't doesn't immediately make them "traitors". They've more than earned the respect (at least) of Ferrari fans for what they did to get Ferrari back on top after so long. Neither left in bad circumstances, and personally I wish them the best of luck. I hope they lose, and that Ferrari win, but I'd much rather lose to Ross and Michael than anyone else

Here in Italy, looking at the thoughts of the tifosi via forums, the situation is preatty strange. Some will support him because they don't like too much the current drivers, some just can't support anyone but ferrari, some will back both... no unilateral feeling. But most think he'll be able to fight for the title.
