Soon it's time for Ferrari's and Ducati's annual trip to the mountains, so I thought we could have an official thread coming up with the things that happen there. I do really look forward to seeing Alonso in red for the first time, his first press conference, and of course the launch of Casey's mean machine for 2010!

Does anyone know when it starts? On Monday?

I still don't quite get the relationship between Ferrari and Ducati, they do this and have the same sponsors.

That's because it chiefly is a Marlboro event. Ferrari and Ducati have a good relationship anyway, since they're not even selling the same kind of vehicles, so no problem there. I think it's great for the fans and for media as well, and I'd love to go there myself one day.

Not sure about this ...

Massa told SKY TV in 2007 Madonna di Campiglio that this was barely his second time take on skiing, the first time exactly on the event for the previous year.

And back in April 2005, Edoardo Bendinelli, Alonso's then physiotherapist once talked about their active training before the European season, among which there were alpine skiing in Sierra Nevada (Spain). He also seemed to reveal that Fernando picked up practicing skiing the previous winter in Italy, and he loved it as he did to many other sports.

Lobato also writes that Alonso began skiing as young as three years old (although that seems more likely to be a lovely joke :p )

I think it was Lobato himself and not Alonso skiing from a very young age. In fact I remember reading something like "if I can beat him in something, this is it", and saying Alonso only started skiing a little while ago.

Yay, go Fisichella! :D

Man, this is going to take awhile to get used to... Alonso in Ferrari gear. Just as long as getting used to seeing Button in McLaren. Whew, can't wait until Bahrain!

Alonso looks a little younger in this picture. Red is definitely a good colour for him.

Actually, what Alonso was doing in Sierra Nevada (Granada, Spain) was training in the CARD (Centro de Alto Rendimiento Deportivo) -High Level of Training Sport Center-, a complex higher more than 2.000 meters over the sea in which you can practise athletism, swimming and all kind of sports. It's ubicated in the alpine ski station of Sierra Nevada, where you can also ski, although I don't remember reading news about him skiing. There were a lot of news about he training to prepare the European season in 2005. He could do it, anyway. On the other hand, he was a really nice man with all the people he met with while walking in the street.

In those days he was driving in Granada... an Alfa Romeo, if my memory serves!!!

Take some of those pictures to the Caption Time thread. I'm sure the experts will think of some great interpretations.

According to Marca, the barcode on the bit of the car where the air flows in (I don't know the name of that part) will be replaced with the Santander logo.

That might be a problem considering cigarette advertising is banned (apart from in a few countries).

But yeah, if they were able to, then they should bring them back. With the logo on the race suit that has the driver's name on it.

Great to finally see Alonso in red but it'll take the Bahrain GP for it to fully sink in!

(Just realised I was skiing about 9 miles from Madonna di Campiglio less than 2 years ago! :D )

From a brazilian journalist who was there, Hayden was calm but serious, he rarely smiled, Casey Stoner looked sick. He could have been bored (that wouldn't be new), but Adriana was always there to pamper him. Massa looked like a Ferrari-family and Alonso was timid and didn't look at ease until the spanish armada came to him.
