not going to happen.
no chance to get laptimes from the test?

Last GP2 Test in October at Jerez the top times were in the low 1.25s So thats the benchmark for Schumacher if the conditions are similiar. I'm not sure if the post 2009 test included new tyres/components but that should give us a benchmark when he tests for 3 days this week. Not much rubber on day 1 when he tests being the only guy out there!
not going to happen.

I think he will select gear and go out and turn some lefts and turn some rights and go fast down the straights and come back in and talk to the engineers and have a drink and maybe some food and maybe go to the toilet.
What do you think guys, agree or not?
as long as his neck is fine with it ...

nice, hope to see his new helmet livery
I have a feeling you won't. He won't be in a Mercedes, so there won't be Mercedes branding/sponsorship, he won't be unveiling the overalls or car livery so I don't think we'll see his new helmet yet.

Don't be ridiculous, coming here with your biased anti-Schumi statements. There's no way he'll go to the toilet. Back it up with evidence next time or we'll all call you names.

In preparation for his much-awaited return to Formula One next season with MERCEDES GP PETRONAS, Michael Schumacher will take part in a three-day GP2 Series test session in Jerez, Spain this week.
Following the approval of the FIA, the GP2 Series and the Formula One Testing Committee, Michael will drive the GP2 development car for three days from Tuesday 12 January to Thursday 14 January.
Michael’s desire to drive a high-performance competition vehicle as part of his preparations has found a match in the objectives of the GP2 Series to develop the 2011/2013 car. As GP2 are currently defining the technical features of the Series’ third generation car which will debut in Spring 2011, the Series organisers saw a fantastic opportunity to benefit from Michael’s experience and his legendary technical abilities.
One of the main goals of the three-day test will be to evaluate numerous suspension configurations in order to define several new set-up solutions which will provide more flexibility to GP2 drivers and engineers during the race weekends. Alongside that programme, the test will see the evaluation and validation of updated components, including a new clutch, to be introduced later this year.
GP2 Organiser Bruno Michel said: “Today’s test marks a milestone for the GP2 Series. It is an honour and a privilege for us to have seven-time Formula One World Champion Michael Schumacher help us to develop our car. The goal of the GP2 Series is to prepare young drivers for Formula One. This test will prove to be very important for the future of our GP2 drivers and will be a confirmation of the high-standards and competitiveness of our Series. Michael’s input and advice will be invaluable. I am confident that his knowledge and unparalleled driving skills will help us to develop a great car for next season.â€

He's driving the GP2 development car, not one of the team's cars.
Well I wonder why is this associated to a team then. Isn't that kind of an advantage for them, when this car rolls out for real in 2011? Even if the car is a little different by then.

Seven-time world champion Michael Schumacher will return to action on Tuesday when he tests a GP2 car at the Jerez circuit in Spain.
The German, who will make a sensational return to Formula 1 racing with the Mercedes GP team this year, will take part in a private test at the Spanish circuit, using a GP2 car run by the Super Nova team.
A spokesperson for Schumacher confirmed to AUTOSPORT the test will run from Tuesday to Thursday. The German will drive the GP2 development car in the test, which has been approved by the FIA.
"Today's test marks a milestone for the GP2 Series," said GP2 boss Bruno Michel. "It is an honour and a privilege for us to have seven-time Formula 1 World Champion Michael Schumacher help us to develop our car. The goal of the GP2 Series is to prepare young drivers for Formula 1.
"This test will prove to be very important for the future of our GP2 drivers and will be a confirmation of the high-standards and competitiveness of our Series. Michael's input and advice will be invaluable. I am confident that his knowledge and unparalleled driving skills will help us to develop a great car for next season."
Schumacher, who had to rule out a return to F1 last year because of neck problems, is not allowed to test Formula 1 machinery until next month.

So it's a development GP2 Series car run by one of the GP2 Series teams. Someone's got to do it!

Would you accept that GP2, who are running the test, probably know what car they are using?
Of course. I'm just surprised that there's a clash between two credible sources and wonder where that information came from.

Otherwise it would be strange one team to have such a long head start w/ car knowledge.
Don't expect some F1 driver to go into general GP2 testing, people would expect him to be like 0.5 faster than anyone else, just too much to loose ;) We will just see some pics from this test and nothing more, there won't be much to discuss...
I just hope the next car would more like the 1st car

Michael Schumacher pulled out of the pit lane to start his 3-day GP2 test at Jerez on Tuesday morning. With Formula 1 testing banned until February, the German's run in the Supernova car will allow some extra mileage to be racked up before the first F1 test kicks off in Valencia on the first day of next month.
On a dull day at the circuit which controversially decided the outcome of the 1997 championship, Schumacher has driven a racing car for the first time this season ahead of his F1 comeback in just over two months' time.
Having celebrated his 41st birthday on the first Sunday of the year, Schumacher becomes the oldest driver in the field once again, taking that particular title back from former Ferrari team-mate Rubens Barrichello.

Awesome! Nice find I had dozens of sites open eagerly waiting pictures! I'm not reading anything into the red helmet yet. I for one wouldn't one unhappy if it stayed.

I don't think it will stay, but they will only reveal the new one when the new Merc colors/outfit is revealed.
