Some people think that the best drivers tend to pretty much win world championships all the time, sometimes this is mostly the case, but not always.
If for a divine act in the universe, if something happened at Suzuka 1999, Mika's engine went or he missed a gear, could Eddie Irvine had become champion? Would it make Mika a lesser driver, no. Irvine once said the greatest day in his life was when Michael broke his leg., yes the gods almost got him to the title, even with Schumacher giving him a win, it was crazy, because it was pretty much expected Michael to eventually wrap up the title for ferrari after so long, but to think Irvine somehow had all the chips once in the life time opportunity work out nearly for him, wow, it just buggers the mind you know.
In 2008, Massa was how close to the title? He was world champion to us for a brief moment it would be almost 2 world champions at Ferrari now, stranger things have happened

Hamilton the man who is the future bar Schumi for the media and some, simply must defeat Button, Hamilton could be a 2 times WC already along with Alonso who he finished ahead of in 2007
The guys who have the most to lose isn't actually Schumacher at first thought, it's Hamilton and Alonso and Button and Massa have the most to gain because even with Massa coming so close to the title and Button having a title, it don't matter, people have made up their minds already who will prevail, but the thing is, Schumi, Alonso and Hamilton may be better then their teamates, but they could still have a freak Eddie Irvine 1999 type season, a season where the title guy just isn't worthy because you know it's not a reflection of the better drivers out there, sometimes **** happens in life, which is why a unexpected next 3 years should not be ruled out, a Jenson Button title in 2009, many years ago on this forum, many would of laughed at that because even now we believe the best deserve a title, unwritten law rule of f1 fans, if this driver don't win, then he needs to win etc
Michael don't win, Mika must win, not Irvine!
Schumacher don't win in 2010, then it's gotta be Hamilton because maybe he's due a 2nd, or maybe Massa's near miss of 2008 must be rewarded if Alonso can't iwin for ferrari. Or maybe it's time for another surprise, that Button can improve and overcome Hamilton in his own team. Put Schumacher in a Mercedes that is just not not good enough in 2010 for the title, people will wonder what the fuss was about on his return, but it's usual for the sport to forget the slower cars, then suddenly in 2011, there's about 5 wet races in a row, Schumi wins them all, and has a good enough car to get points to the end, pow wow, he's wc again, Schumi vs Hamilton for most of 2011, but Kimi returns at Mclaren and has been clocking up consistent 2nd places, and benefits from Hamilton and Schumacher taking each other out at Suzuka 2010 Senna vs Prost style.
What's unlikely in f1 can happen and has happened, who would of thought Schumacher's engine would go at Suzuka 2006, who would of thought Hamilton could lose his lead towards the end of 2007, I mean he outscored a 2 times wc in Alonso, and almost won the title in his debut year, it must of haunted him to come close, but I guess he's gotta be proud of his performances against Alonso regardless. Massa has to be haunted of celebrating like a champion in Brazil 2008 on homeground, Kimi must be spooked that his bad karma at Mclaren was all wiped in one year at ferrari by having more luck in the end to get the the title, luck I think he deserves at least once in his career.
Not all f1 seasons have the answers fans want, the drivers are along for the ride sometimes, destiny and fate take over, no matter how great some are, it just might not be their time now or ever again, Mansell's tyre blow out lost him the respect of being a 2 times wc, and I think that season he lost the title might mean more to have won then the actual title he won, but good quality runner up performances maybe should be looked up more often
So take a wild guess for fun and forget about any rational logic about what teams may be strong, like ferrari in 2005, no one saw that drop coming.
Who needs a title the most, who needs one more title then the other driver the most? Who needs a title at all? Who needs 8 titles? Put Michael in a rubbish mercedes, let him win race races and put on a show and they'll stilll call him best, and give all the other drivers a title every 3 or 4 years, then Michael wins his his 8th title on his return to ferrari in about 6 years
Let Hamilton win it 2 years in a row, let them call Schumi a has been, then let Schumi win the following year, and reset expectations again
Alonso goes back to mclaren after going back on his words that ferrari will be his last team, a swap for Hamilton who claims every driver must want to drive for ferrari, mclaren work with Alonso in the way they wanted without having to struggle serving the might of Hamilton.
So much could happen. So much has happened, I mean, Schumacher is not coming back dude,

We really have had it all ending the last decade off, you couldn't even have hired a hack writer from a quality tv show to produce the surprises we have talked about and the shocks. I mean even atlas f1 did a summary of big title headlines over the past year, are some of you still just a bit bemused by just how many changes and twists we've gotten over the last few years, it's actually quite amazing just thinking about it. Those last few laps in 2008 at Brazil, I remember reading the comments on the forum at the time, some of us were convinced almost it was scripted to happen, just when you think even with the most botched up rules a title decider cannot help but keep you clued, it does, f1 has had a way of sucking you into it's vortex
even when you were struggeling to enjoy it, you somehow got fed amazing unpredictability. In all f1 history, you still have this wonderful treat, that a formula one race is just never ever the same as the one the weekend before it, and they couldn't make up a rule to mess that up thank god.
