Would MS have signed with Mercedes if Button was his teammate?

I agree with Clatter, I think Rosberg was signed as a replacement for Barrichello. If so, the Button + Schumacher scenario wasn't ever imagined, it was Button + Rosberg. I don't think Brawn considered Schumacher until he realised that there was a real possibility of Button not re-signing and he needed a replacement PDQ.

It could be that Ross was trying to get rid of Jenson and masterminded this entire move Mercedes definetly prefers MS over Jenson for sure without a doubt since MS and Mercedes have a history together in Group C.

Come on, Mclaren never seriously wanted Raikkonen back, they were just using him to keep Buttons asking price down.

Kimi was Mclaren their #1 choice this entire time. Jenson just got lucky that Kimi was asking way too much money and Mclaren had Lewis. ( because if Mclaren didn't have Lewis already, Mclaren would have agreed to pay any sum of money for Kimi )

Rubbish! Kimi was signed before Schumi decided to retire. The fact was Schumi was scared of Kimi. Also, after Alonso beat him twice the thought of facing 2 strong drivers got the better of him and quit while he was ahead. Schumi would never risk having a strong team mate, imo he lacks the courage and is insecure to go head to head with strong team mate. He needs Brawn to guarantee him the number 1 status.

You mean the kimi who couldn't even get a drive for 2010? Was bought out of his contract by ferrari because they wanted alonso? You really don't think that if Schumacher didnt want Kimi to join ferrari they would have actually signed him?

What you are lacking (other than obvious common sense) is proof that Schumacher's decision to retire came after Kimi's contract with ferrari.

One scared driver managing to become a 7 time WDC? And all those other ueber-ball drivers that MS is supposed to scared of are managing only one or two so far to their names? Seems being scared is the way to become champ in F1..

Seriously, MS is competing for fun. That's what he likes and does best. He ain't perfect, but so what?

MS might be afraid of other drivers, but as long as he isn't scared to race an F1 car in anger it's fine. The moment he has fears to put a car to it's limit, then and only then it's time for him to quit. In the end, no driver can manage to beat everyone all the time.

Not that it means everything, but Schuey usually beats Button in race of champions, simiilar machinery, it's probably the only example of them ever competing were likely to get.
In terms of f1 drivers, those bothered to show up, at least MS has a better record there. Once Button dones well against Hamilton, if he does, then he'll be more in a position to even being menstioned alongside MS, it's way too early, 1 title is not enough, Button knows that, the Hamilton challenge will define him forever perhaps. It's something.

Those "talks" on the grid of Abu Dhabi were more like friendly jokings. According to Michael himself Ross called him and made the first serious offer at the end of November, after Jenson was gone.

I think FenderJaguar has a good point-Ross and Schumi kept in touch.
I am sure Jenson explored other options as Brawn was going to have to get $$$ from somewhere to pay drivers and fund budget.
When Jenson felt Schu was even possibly in the picture, he made a hasty retreat, possibly with a word of advice from teammate Rubens to get far, far away from Michael.
This was a great move on Button's part...ask Reubens. Massa came along later in Michael's era-possibly the pressure to give way to Schu was not as great after several Championships.
And for Nico R., Yikes! Could be tough for him this year.
We will have to see...
