Hello Everyone
I am new to this website and forum - I write about local history and nostalgia. I am currently researching for a story about Robert Walshaw - London to Cape Town 1952 and 13th at the Le Man's in 1957 can any one tell me anything else about him or point me in the direction of any written material about.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thankyou

A quick dip into Martin Krejci's encyclopaedic site shows that he shared a Jaguar XK140 at Le Mans with Peter Bolton which was disqualified for refuelling too early and that at Le Mans in 1957 his co-driver in the Lotus XI was John Dalton. In both cases he was the car's entrant.

I haven't delved any further, but a trawl through the British International races and British National Races sections may turn up a few results.

The XK140 effort was in 1956
Before that, Walshaw had been quite successful in UK 1172-formula racing at the wheel of a Lotus

Chris, we have a common interest.
My father worked with Robbie in the 1950s at Trinity Garage in Halifax. I am also currently engaged in researching Robbie's competition history. I have been in contact with his daughter Julia and have also received some material from a former colleague of his.
I have sent you a PM.

Sadly not - having retired to live on the Isle of Man, he died there on the 26th August 2008.

Whilst researching the competition history of Robbie Walshaw I have received anecdotal evidence that his XK140 PWT846 - which he drove at Le Mans in 1956 sharing the drive with Peter Bolton - was purchased from Roy Salvadori. I would like to ask Roy if he can remember selling the car to Robbie - does any TNF member have contact details for Roy?

Sadly I'm not sure if Roy is in good enough condition to be contacted about this :(
