and starts over:

here is the only OFFICIAL INFO on F1 2010 after 20 months:

1. 'Mid 2010'
2. the game will still cater for the sim crowd and have many sim focused elements like the ones you mentioned such as drying lines, dust accumulation, grip levels etc.

An abundance of information there, after two years of waiting.

New info:

CM Had journalists in recently to see the game, "feedback was v.positive!" according to them [naturally]

Magazine coverage begins mid-March, online news also on its way soon.

Still a few months out surely so the real cars can come out and speed be established. Can't wait though. SO read for a new game!!! Surprised I haven't melted F1:CE I've played it so much lately. Have a G25 on what my wife lovingly refers to as "that damn box". Simple rig still in bare wood since I have yet to stop playing enough to paint. Just a bit leary of CM right now. Everything of theirs I have purchased I later regretted.

Grid=Fail
Dirt 1&2=Fail
Operation Flashpoint=Fail

granted all the racing games were arcade but that's all I found them good for. One single play through was fun but ZERO replayability. Flashpoint just was not as different as the reviews said. It's just another shooter.

If F1-2010 can be even as good as F1:CE I will play the everloving dog **** out of it. If they goof this one though I'll be done with them period...

GRID fail? It Failed so badly EA copied it. You obviously didn't play it much, it's one of their best selling games.

Putting off game announcements on consoles is now really cool. Maybe CM should follow Sony's lead and sell a demo, then hint at the real game release for three years.

CM keeps using the word "sim" like Polyphony abuses the word "sim". CM has never made a sim since the original TOCA, and those guys are all gone. There will never be a F1 sim as long as the target demographics is 14-18. ALL console games have to hit this demographic.

The graphics will be good, but the real trick to F1 games is the hard stuff: modeling the race events in a full race, and F1 CE doesn't do this.

There is not a good reason why these games are taking so long to develop, other than legal licencing. With tracking cameras and GPS, actual modeling takes less time than ever.

Agreed mostly, I still play GRID, it's certainly no sim, and there seems to be a crash mentality seeing as no-one gets punished for doing so, but it's still fun online. Hardly a failure by any means.

Well maybe what I read was completely misleading but I was not expecting an arcade only game. Played Grid one time through when I had just bought my G25 and it sits collecting dust since. Just not at all an arcade type. Never play it on any game with that for an option. Seem to be in the minority here about it but none of my friends like it either. I would play even just the drift part if it wasn't for the over exaggerated wheel motion of in car view. It distracts me and looks so unnatural.

Thanks for the update MSWDCx7 ... and darn dude, I see you ALL over the place. Check you out. Once I can afford it I need to grab a copy of rFactor and come join you in some F1 racing over there.

Now with Codemasters holding F1 2010 til the middle of the year, and GT5 not coming out until who knows when, I have put my hat over into the iRacing ring. Can't wait for the Williams FW31 to be released. It's great racing over there, even if I do sorta suck.
