I am going to the Singapore GP later this year, got my flights and hotel sorted out.

But I really don't have much idea which tickets/stands I should get. I don't think I can really manage the SGD1400 ones so advice on the middle range would be very much appreciated.

TQ :)

Assuming you aren't staying at the Swissotel Stamford or any of the hotels in Suntec City along the track, which all would have excellent views, I would suggest the Padang Grandstand which has great views of the skyscrapers downtown, is a straightaway but not a long one so cars aren't zooming by too fast, and is across from the beautifully-lit Old Supreme Court building. Thanks for the advice, I'm actually staying in the Pan Pac but not with a track facing room.

Have just had a look at the pricing and I think I'm going to have a go at persuading my brother, coming over for his first ever F1 race live, to bite the bullet and get top price tickets. Hey its only money

we always sit main grandstand for race, but usually spend fri/sat walking other corners and straights. usually only sit in grandstand for qual / race. did singapore last year, and it was great to wander around all the other area's. if you have a kangaroo tv, you can take it with you and keep a closer eye on timing etc. it you go main grandstand, at least you have access to all other walkaround areas easily. you can go anywhere with that. the fullerton boathouse at the bridge is a goode spot. great balcony to watch them coming around the corner. wherever, just make sure you walk around and do all the other corners, not just where you sit.

I remember reading that there's a coffee place in one of Singapore's CBD skyscrapers where you can have a view of the city? Does anyone know?

I know there's also a bar with a view on top of Swissotel, the hotel who's pics you just posted.

yep you're right. I also found the restaurant in the skyscraper I was thinking of in the CBD area:

Si Chuan Dou Hua Restaurant
80 Raffles Place
#60-01 UOB Plaza 1
Singapore 048624
Tel: 6535 6006
Lunch: 1130 to 1430 hours
Dinner: 1830 to 2230 hours

It would have perfect views of pretty much the whole circuit. I don't know if it is is open during the race or whether it charges exorbitant prices at that time. I even found a mini review: http://www.peacebell...9/14/uob-plaza/

oh man, I stayed at the Stamford a couple of times in the early 90's (when it was the Westin Stamford), never dreamed that one day F1 cars would be racing by it!
