Well thats what i thought, its like his style. Now if it was a shot from another view and he was sideways then i would say yes.

Looks quite young for Schauzu, but if it's a contemporary pic to the Fath shot, then it's probably 1960. Great pics, Dommie.

The one labeled Colin is that Colin Seeley ?

This takes me back to my childhood, Florian Camathias, Fritz Scheidegger, Helmut Fath, i was probably around 12 years old but bike racing mad.

Hi, Fath is right on the other pic although different time to the mystery BMW outfit. Fath would be on his URS at this time. Thanks for the comment, will try to locate more.

Hi Pete, yes it's Colin Seeley and you can see this outfit and dad's outfit on the Duke DVD about sidecar champions. Dad is in shot going through the paddock at Mallory for the race of the year, you got the others ok.

How are you keeping?

I still think it's the Beemer, Dom. BMW roundels on the bike and both helmets.

Hi Renn, i must admit that i bought this pic from the small air museum on the Ronaldsway Airport when my wife took me there for my 40th to watch the Manx GP in 08. On the back is Racing Photos IOM, i have a phone number so will ring and find out later.
Say hello to Max for me, he sent my dad a birthday card a couple of years ago for his 70th.

Pity enough I'm not personally acquainted to Max, but the chap who runs

knows one who knows Max or something like that. Well, we now know for sure where the pic was taken... will keep you informed

That' what I received via Rolf Eggersdorfer

"Hello Rolf,
Ich denke Otto Kölle in GP Spanien in Barcelona 1962;

Claude "

which means that Claude Lambert's tip is Kölle/Hess at Montjuich in '62

Kölle is also Max Deubel's guess

Cheers

Hi all, yes Otto was next on my list, but at 2 am i had enough so went to bed and only just got back from doing a 250+ mile round trip today. PICBLANC, the web you link us to is a good site, i looked at that site for 1965 West German GP for my dad. He has most numbers except number 11, and thats the one i am looking for. Sods law or what! ):

Arsenius Butscher, Colin Seeley's special friend ?

Not a friend of my dad either, he rammed my dads chair going into a chicane so stopping my dads passenger from getting out so my dad repaid Butscher by blocking his passenger from leaning on the second half of the chicane. Can you get place or year?

'65 or '66 I guess. Wolfgang Kalauch in the chair ? Eventually he changed to a left hand outfit.

Possibly Colin assumed that different lines which right and left hand outfits may take were the reason for some close encounters, nevertheless it's strange that mostly Butscher was involved when it happened...

Don't know if you have seen this.....I love the hammy commentary by Raymond Baxter. I was wondering if there is any info on "Jenks" I believe he did some car race as navigator to Sterling Moss in Italy.

Joe, there's a stack of stuff on Jenks in amongst the car threads on TNF, just scroll through the thread titles, or go into the search box. But NEVER spell Stirling with an "e" over there, or you will get your entrails flayed by a wide variety of well-meaning but at times snippy pedants...

One of the best lines I've spotted about dear old Jenks over there was along the lines of...

"Denis Jenkinson was the winner of the 1955 Mille Miglia in a Mercedes driven by a chaffeur "....

I forgot to say as a young child I saw someone in the IOM can't remeber who it was but a German outfit in red and a very quick pair they may have won, I couldn't believe how he lifted the chair over the pavement and took in effect a solo line.
Chris

I think it was 70 and a left hander it's so long ago and I was only a kid I remember we went over to see Mick Grant it could have been Bedstead ?

German red left hander, so I think it should be Heinz Luthringshauser

Looks very much like Scarborough with the paddock below the circuit and the gate leading out to the start area. Never seen a photo without the "safety" fence what would be to the left in this shot. Just had it confirmed must be Olivers Mount, she who must be obeyed recognises the white building ;)
Worth a look at http://www.oliversmo...f=circuit&id=21

Thanks for confirmation, I wasn't sure about the section of the circuit

He finished in 8th place in the 500 cc sidecar TT on a Norton as late as '70 behind the BMW armada and Owesle on the URS, not bad if he was still campaigning the Manx

Hi guys,
For those that are interested, heres a vid of Roger Dixon winning a race at Mallory in 2006,the year before before he was tragically killed at Jehonville a couple of years back. Some of you may remember him from the TZ750 chair days.Commentary is a bit naff, but the action is good.Don't blink at the start.Enjoy

Wonder why those guys who didn't want to drive sidecar outfits nevertheless took part in sidecar races ? Was it easier for them to gain success by unfair advantage instead of being consistent and switch to car racing ? :(

I wondered at the time how they got away with this concept. How did they fit in with fellow competitors ?

IIRC , disliked by most , who thought it was cheating  , which it wasn't , as it complied with the rules , as did Rolf Biland's creations in later years , although the FIM created a B2 ? class for him
Chris Vincent was in the process of constructing something when the ACU changed the rules , I believe :well:

Yes I agree, those contraptions complied with the rules which clearly showed the incompetence of the FIM and it's subalterns. Wonder why nobody entered a Formula 3 car with a sack of potatoes as substitute passenger. Rant over
