Why? The Chunnel's not affected, is it?
All modes of transport have been somewhat oversubscribed due to the shortage of air travel.

Watching F1 cars from five decades, CanAm, F2, F3000,... absolute fabolous.
I walked the whole day trough the paddock with a big grin on my face
A very special highlight was the Lotus 72 in Gold Leaf livery.
Does anyone know, if this car is the rebuilt wreck from Monza 1970?
It was a magic moment to watch the car running around the track of Rindts last victory 40 years ago.

I thought it was a bit of a strange combination of raceseries. BOSS and Interserie don't really fit to the others...

Second picture is ERNST KRAUS (left) posing next to his former car which was in green during the Seventies. The man on the right is the actual owner mr OTTOCAR JACOBS, wearing a funny hat. On the background, with the red overalls is FRITZ KOZKA from Dresden, who drove the yellow, ex-Willy KAUHSEN 917.
Third picture is (from left to right): Kurt Ahrens (70 years today!), Porsche engineer HANS MEZGER and Mr FRAUENSHUH, former Porsche SALZBURG mechanic.

It certainly isn't. It's probably the Joe Willenpart car, chassis 4 (ex-chassis 1), driven by Reine Wisell and Graham Hill.

That would then be the Rob Walker car? Reine Wisell never raced that.

Yes the Rob Walker car was formerly chassis 1, Wisell drove that one.
Wisell drove R3, & R6 a couple of times too............

Whatever, the car @ Hockenheim certainly wasn't the Rindt chassis, it was the ex-Wisell, ex-Hill car IF it's Joe W's car.

ooooooooh, it must be me getting my chassis numbers mixed up. Was it chassis 1 that suffered Jochen's fatal accident then?

R2 was Rindt's chassis, that was understandably scrapped. There is no car that both Hill & Wisell both drove, even if you call
R1 & R4 the same car.

several drivers had to cancel their trip just before the race
Was this a result of Icelandic volcano syndrome?

Which car did John Foulston own? I saw Willie Green fling it around Oulton Park in the 80's. Fabulous

According to Michael Oliver's definitive tome on the 72, the Rindt chassis was being restored (in 2003) by Simon Hadfield for Italian owner, Pier-Luigi Mapelli.

(off topic)
From the best I know, Rindt's chassis wasn't scrapped, it was discovered in a garden shed near Milan in 1995 and acquired by a Rindt fan from Vienna, who is currently having it rebuilt in the UK. A photograph of the wreck in the shed in Italy can be seen on the last page of the book 'Jochen Rindt - Der erste Popstar der Formel 1' by Ferdi Kräling and Herbert Völker that was published last year. IIRC, the story of the search for the car was published in Austrian monthly magazine 'Autorevue' at the time.

I find that very difficult to believe, but anything can happen in Italy, I suppose.
Edit: On another forum, Allen Brown discredits this find, stating that R3 has been in the UK for many years, and he is aware of it's location but considers it prudent not to divulge such information on a public forum. A wise decision.

yes for one of them in BOSS GP, who was also entering FIA F1, mechanical or personal problems for the other ones, more entries are expected at Spa whith "interesting" new cars. I heard a story of a scotish driver who did the trip by the road at the last minute and arrived just in time to get into the car for the race. For the Lotus 72, written N° 4 on chassis plate. Talking about FIA F1 race, it was the first win of a McLaren MP4/1B, driven by B. Verdon-Roe.

Nice photos, MODE. I don't think I've seen a 49 or 72 running with a triple-aerofoil wing in historics before.
The 72 when Foulston owned it.

The 72 in question and it's fate was the subject of this thread some while ago. At certain points it makes quite difficult reading as you might expect with from such a controversial subject.
