This weekend while on the internet I found one video of the 1937 season, where you can see some nice footage of the cars racing at Tripoli, Nurburgring, Spa, Monaco....until Donington the last race of the 750kg formula. unfortunately the quality of the sound is quite poor, I think it has fake spinning tire sounds.

I've uploaded it to Youtube so all of you can watch it, but if you want it I'll tell you where to get it.

Marvellous!

I can see why you think it's a Conti film, but my first thought was that this is part (or all?) of "Deutsche Sieg in Drei Erdteilen" ("German Victories on Three Continents"), which was produced by Ulli Bigalke for Auto Union and which covers the 1937 season.

I think perhaps I've seen some bits and pieces of that footage , I'm sure I've never seen all of it .

That's the first footage I've seen from Livorno and Brno , I'm certain .

Loved the scoreboard at Spa , and seeing the Auto Union broadsliding it out of the tunnel at Monaco .

And Vitesse . I'm sure you're correct on the source .

Wonderful stuff.

Masta kink flanked by trees both sides of the road - woah !! Also, seeing that the supposedly narrow farmyard section at Coppice for the Donington GP was pretty much twice the width of the track used at Brno and Livorno !! :clap:

I have a VHS tape about Auto Union, and I think that video has some of the footage used in these films, although I haven't watched it in a long time so I'm unsure of just how much was used. These films are most evocative and go beyond the cars on the track. Terrific stuff. :up:

Thanks for these; excellent stuff - nice to see one or two real four-wheel drifts.

How brave were those people? Those circuits were lethal, cars were 750kg with 600hp...
