A bit about the Roll Hoop. I wonder if it's detachable?

ISTRC that this car was campaigned by Sir Nick Williamson in a few hillclimbs in the 70's - I recall seeing it at Shelsley for certain.

D-Types seem to always gain a tail fin in the course of restoration. Does anybody know why? Although improving straight line stability, I believe the fin leads to "aerodynamic understeer" on corners.

But I think the short nose looks better without the fin. But maybe that's only because the first one I saw had no fin.

If someone can tell me how to insert a photo in this thread I have one of the car in the 80th birthday parade of cars driven by Sir Stirling Moss at Goodwood Revival 2009. I must have other photos of it as I have seen it at several events.

Well, that shouldn't be too hard...

David McKinney has unravelled all of that stuff. Hasn't he?
