Pole again for both races (rounds 5 & 6) in Valencia, Jack looks one to watch for the future :up:

Early days in his career but I would be very surprised if someone with his speed and performance did not make it to a higher level, at 17 his future looks good :clap:

It COULD be a very good motorsport weekend for the Brits in Valencia :smoking:

I just think that young talent such as his is worthy of a mention :clap:

Just remember the name and keep an eye on his progress, he needs, as every aspiring driver does, exposure when his results are so consistently good :up:

Too bad that most talent in autosport is lost because of the financial needed (rich daddy) influences. These kids are driving so much karts that they will get good even with a small pack of talent. Only time will tell if they are good enough for f1.

Well if a bunch of rich kids are merely racing another bunch of rich kids, then it's only the most talented rich kid that wins. Jack happens to be good, but he is packing some serious cash too.

It might be rich kids v rich kids but not many of those rich kids were capable of spending over 100k a year running a cadet kart!

Umm you guys do realise that he's getting backing from Racing Steps Foundation right? Which is there for kids who don't have the funding?

doubt hes exactly poor it still costs over 10k a year to go karting even at the noobie noobie levels

And the harveys were spending a minimum of 250k a year when he was racing kf3/kf2 in europe

very easily the KF1 Class (SUPER KF) can spend £70k a year just on british championship.

The kf engines are a heck of a lot more expensive to run than a FSA rotary valve was.......

I know karting is stupidly expensive, but nothing is that expensive for that few races. The karts simply aren't sophisticated enough. And it can't be all engine costs, 320k for 5 races is more expensive than leasing an Indycar motor!

Guys I knew who raced Formula A in North America back when it was a proper series were on 100k budgets.

how long ago?

the money will cover travel , living and hotel expenses aswell its not just spent on the karts everything costs money.

no "poor" families do karting they cant afford it because even the basic noobie leagues are out of their price range

I doubt ANYONE who has made the grade in the last decade of motorsport has been able to do so WITHOUT MAJOR FINANCIAL BACKING.
Looking forward to rounds 7 & 8 to see if Jack can keep his focus and add to the number of poles, podiums and wins in the 2010 Formula BMW Europe Series

Nope, not Magpie PR or any other PR.
Jack comes fom a village called Bessingham in Lincolnshire, about 6 miles from where I live.
Local lad doing good deserves a BIG :up:

He starts from 2nd on the grid in today's race, and 3rd on the grid in Sunday's race.
And congratulations to Carlos Sainz jnr for his pole positions, "Rookie" of the year award :smoking:

He drove brilliantly today - the crowd who stayed to watch the final race of the day were very impressed. Nice to see Jack so elated too.

Without wishing to irritate, but a win and a 3rd place at Silverstone leaves Jack leading the Championship on 203 points :up:

Eddie Cheever's Dad spent $100K in one year of karting in Europe in the 70s.

Between tires, engine prep, engineers, etc. it adds up quickly.

Seems to have struggled with the step up from F-BMW to F3 for the first half of the season but he appears to be getting adjusted now, been making steady progress, hopefully he can continue that form and progression this season then push on and challenge the top end of the points table next year.

As far as i know from the conversations i've had he will be relatively lucky to get continued back from RSF for next year. His win don't forget was a reverse grid race.

His talent is not that big and certainly not yet worthy of an F1 test or something similar. He has a MASSIVE way to go.

Not yet in any way impressed at all and yet another driver that makes me wonder if it is all PR and marketing. Why is he a BRDC Superstar for example?

he only just missed out on the formula bmw title last year... people have BRDC superstar status for less than that

f bmw is perceived to be an arrive and drive championship at the lowest entry level. it was not that highly regarded although it did have good media coverage which confused the issue.

The drivers from this series in the last few years are not that great.

See that is wrong. The series was highly regarded. It competed with and for a short period, prevailed in terms of attracting the top talent over Formula Renault and Formula Ford.

I think the driving talent as a whole hasn't been that great from the new drivers in the last couple years or so. Formula 3 has been weak since GP3 was introduced last year, and even the GP3 grid (while filled with plenty of talent) isn't that strong either. Felipe Nasr might be dominating British F3, but who is he really competing against?

I think the driver mentioned in the thread title went about picking the wrong series. But while he is a BRDC Rising Star driver he, I guess, doesn't have much of a choice.

On paper nobody, but it appears Lucas Foresti seems the closest man to Nasr in terms of outright pace and consistancy. Last two weekends have been very poor though although hes been fairly impressive upto that point. I dare tip him for good things in future.

Nobody else seems complete compared to Felipe. (Or Foresti for that matter.) Jazeman Jaafar is consistant but lacks the ultimate pace, ditto Huertas. Idafar is very rapid but horridly inconsistant. I want to say Magnussen Jr but hes had almost no luck at all this year.

Foresti is only 19, but he'd been moved around so many different series (with little success outside Brazil) that he's not giving us anything to give any many props to his countryman for.

I know only the Carlin guys have competed from Brit F3 in the FIA F3 Trophy, but there are some challengers there, yet Nasr or Harvey (trying to stay on topic) have contested. Not even the Pau Grand Prix. Once the premier F3 even in Europe next to the F3 Masters, it has fallen back and with Jaafar and Huertas finishing in the back at the event, it questions how Nasr would finish to the F3 Euroseries drivers.
