Now, it's getting silly.

Had our French agent tell me to change our expert because a French court would never take the word of an Englishman over a Frenchman. Had our Spanish agent tell me not to fight jurisdiction in Spain because although the contract was English, under English law, with an English jurisdiction clause in the English language, dealt with performance in England and damage occurred in England, a Spanish court would ignore European law and declare it to be subject to Spanish law. Had endless battles in Germany trying to stop the German courts asserting jurisdiction over things (that had already been decided in England) in clear breach of European law.

I could mention other examples. And then I could mention tales told to me from others. E.g. the Portuguese trial where someone was sentenced to 2 years in prison for a crime that even the prosecutor knew the (English) defendant was innocent. But was denied an interpreter and legal access.

But as I say serious international litigation takes place in London. Because nobody in the real world trusts the legal systems anywhere else.
