I'm amazed at how Android is being ignored while its use is growing so significantly.

Any news on an Android app for those of us who refuse to jump on the Apple bandwagon?

I've had a fiddle with a beta version of the Android app, and it works just as well as its iPhone counterpart.

Can't imagine it'll be too long before it appears on the Android Market.

Update on the app...

Our Android app is now complete and is being scheduled for release in the week before the Melbourne GP.

There is one caveat to this: recently a lot of Android apps have been subject to hacking. Google is introducing some added security in the Android marketplace - so until that is completed, we will hold back from releasing our app, but it should be out there (all being well) around the 24th / 25th March.

Price will be £2.99 once again, as per the iPhone app.

I hope you'll agree it's worth the money. We are pretty happy with it.

I recently bought an Android, and I am considering if I should buy the Autosport app (when it's out).

I do have the same reservations people voiced above when the Apple App came out (ie why pay when I can access the same info through the web browser). I understand the convenience (for example, I do find it easier to read the NYTimes through their app rather than the browser), so if any app user would like to report if they are happy/unhappy with the app, it would make my decision easier

. (Perhaps a trial period would be good too?)

Oh, and does the app offer access to the forums? It's not clear in the website.

Question on the iphone app (which I have).

Is it supposed to display results in the articles? I can never see any session results, standings, calenders etc. The results page only shows qualifying and racing so you cant look up practice or testing times.

All I see is the heading (ie session name/type) but no actual times.

Is this how it should be or have I got a setting incorrect or a bad version of the app? It's a pain to have to look at the website in the browser to see times.

I have to say in the time since I purchased the iOS app, I have found I end up just using the website in safari more. Whilst the app is OK and it is nice having the articles in an easy to read layout, there are bunch of things I can't do with it that make it pointless to spend money on it at the moment. General use of the app becomes tedious. Even just getting articles to refresh requires you to navigate to the front page of the app and then back into your section each time. I have found it best to just make a bookmark / home screen icon to your preferred autosport home page and use Safari.

No immediate plans for an iPad app version of the site. But we do have plans in the pipeline for an iPad-friendly version of the digital issue...

Is there any response on the app not showing session standings and times? Does it work for anyone else? All I get on Android is the report - no standings or anything and it's always been this way.

Also, for consistency's sake, please change the way the arrows sort through stories. On the website it's < Earlier Story Next Story > whilst on the app, it's < Next Story Earlier Story >.

Is there anyway to provide feedback to the developers??? Or anyone that might actually listen?

Well it's been nearly a year and still no action! We still have an app that won't show the launch & testing calendars nor any session times. Can we PLEASE get this fixed for this season?????

I put a decent amount of very reasonable feedback about the Android app into the recent Autosporg survey. I really hope it's acted on as I hardly bother with the app anymore.

It's simply too frustrating for many reasons, the main two being that links within articles do not work and session times are never within the app version of reports.

Autosport is easily the worst paid app I have bought and this far down the line without a single update despite so many necessary features still missing, I frankly think everyone should be refunded. Seriously.

There are quite a few functionality problems with the app, especially with the newer versions of iOS (ie. any version of iOS which is newer than the app).

A full update is well overdue, but hasn't been as high a priority as it should have been over the past few months as we've made some fairly major changes to the site (some of which have been very visible, some of which have been going on under the surface). The question we will need to answer pretty quickly is whether the big update should be based on patching up what we've got at the moment or whether it should be a complete rebuild - if it's the latter then it will still update as normal within your app rather than being a separate download.

I'll update you when I can say a bit more with certainty - hopefully it won't be too long before I can do this!

I don't even use the app now, it just doesn't work properly. Better to browse Autosport.com via my phone/tablet's browser.

So I take it no work has been done on the app for another year. It's a bit pathetic really.

I still use it day to day for news stories, but for session data it remains pointless. How tiresome to read, at the bottom of every session report, "Full qualifying times here...." and there is no link to click, the data simply does not exist. Jesus, it can't be that difficult to copy and paste the times into the reports before they appear via the app?

I'm not particularly interested in Autosports financial woes etc, the fact remains that yeah I may have only paid £2.99 or so for this (Android) but it remains literally the only app I have ever purchased over the years to not have received a single update to it.

The layout is absolutely spot on, please don't ever tinker with it, but it's about time you sorted out the non-existant links to other stories and not showing session times within session reports, which do appear on the full website.

Apart from it STILL not being able to include ANY session times...?

They come in handy for motorsport fans, Autosport don't seem to recognise that though.

Just give us Full screen for iPhone 5, 5C and 5S and an updated UI with updated categories, come on Its been too long, and if i have to pay for a new version when its finally done then thats taking the mick
