I just received an invite from FoMoCo to attend an introduction party for the recently (and beautifully) restored Type 38-01, the 1965 Indy 500 winner.
Since the invite is at "the Lodge", one has to assume that it will be displayed on the 18th fairway, along with other hopefully great cars in the newly created "Indy 500" class, that will be shown for the first time.
It will be great for me to inspect the car now in top fettle after having seen it in the early 1990's is desperate condition at the Henry Ford museum in Dearborn.
Thanks to Clive Chapman and his team to have done such a beautiful job on it.
I guess I will have to park our old nail far enough from it so that the patina on our well-used Coop will not be too shadowed by the resplendent beauty of one of the prettiest Indy cars ever built.

Having just been invited by a judge and participant I will be attending Pebble Beach for the first time in 20 years-look forward to seeing you and the Lotus T38 there!

I thought the T54 had also been subject to an extensive restoration and has little genuine patina.

Well, it has seen a lot of use since it was restored 20 years ago, and while it still looks nice, it looks like... a used race car!

A proper racing car, not a piece of sculpture in the shape of a racing car.
