1978 Pocono 500 qualifying

With a newspaper search, I find two different sets of qualifying times for the 1978 Pocono 500, both distributed by news agencies (UPI and AP) and differing only by a few hundredths of a second, some even identical. For example, the first row qualifiers are credited with the following speeds:

Ongais - 190.315 mph (1'34.58" - UPI) or 190.335 mph (1'34.57" - AP)
Sneva - 189.534 mph (1'34.97" - UPI) or 189.553 mph (1'34.96" - AP)
Rutherford - 188.976 mph (1'35.25" - UPI) or 188.937 mph (1'35.27" - AP)
etc.

I am wondering if somebody may have the times (or speeds) from a racing magazine, or even the USAC yearbook to settle this issue?

No sooner have I posted this, then I open a random AP article to check my decimals, and it reads:

Mechanical problems also resulted in changes in 17 of Thursday's 26 qualifying speeds. Officials said a malfunction with new electronic timing equipment resulted in minor errors in the thousandths of a second fractions.

Ah well. A paragraph omitted by most newspapers. Who's going to be interested in this titbit anyway? ME!!!

I am guessing one reason Pocono might be called the 'tricky triangle' is because 'Mechanical problems' resulted in changes caused by a malfunction with electronic equipment
