It seems that Formula One drivers spend hardly any of their careers actually being racing drivers. They compete in about 20 races a year. Less than 40 hours worth of races per season. No wonder the racing is dreadful, they're all out of practice!

I was watching the BTCC yesterday and wondering, why can't Lewis or Jenson just show up for a guest drive?

Perhaps this means that Ferrari only have one brain between them?

Anyway, a clear admission that Ferrari are cheating as usual, by thinking during the summer break!

I can see nothing but good things coming from this thread.

I was watching the BTCC yesterday and wondering, why can't Lewis or Jenson just show up for a guest drive?

The teams would rather have them doing endless laps on simulators, than risking injury and gaining bad habits from driving cars with different characteristics to the F1s. It's kinda sad but that's what we have.

I was watching NASCAR on one of the TV streaming sites over the weekend.

One of the channels I came across in my hunt for a good stream seemed to be showing F1 races from years past.

Might be worth a look there if you need your F1 fix. What surprised me is how different the engines sounded a few years ago (season showing was 2004 I think), the higher revs really stand out now we are used to "lesser" engines.

Call me a fanboi if you will but nothing will ever compare to this ->
Plus it was on the back of one of the most beautiful F1 cars in memory (IMO always)

what are they actually resting from. it is a silly hangver form when the mechanics needed a rest from all the testing

All F1 engineers should be fitted with an FIA Standard Brain which allows the FIA to control what they're thinkg at all times.

At least I have football back.

It fills the gaps.

best thing about it though, despite hating pre seasons of both, at least I have football in the winter then F1 in the summer.

It still baffles me as to why the FIA have to mandate a specific engine size.

Does anyone know when the teams actually shut their HQs down?

I heard it mentioned on the BBCs coverage after the end of the last GP, but what caught my ear was the fact that it wasn't the same for all teams. I thought the whole point was for all team member to get a minimum guaranteed break? Or are some teams giving additional time off?

To reduce costs, mainly.

Anyways, why are people here saying Ferrari are stupid and Luca doesn't have a brain? I think a lot of people expected Ferrari to drop into mediocrity after Schumi/Brawn/Todt left, that didn't happen. Then people were saying the same thing was going to happen when the new regulations were introduced, and while 2009 wasn't as good as their previous years, they still won a race, had several podiums, and we saw other F1 superpowers have big struggles themselves. And now, they are back, winning races with a very competitive car.

But I'm sure NEXT year, they'll start living up to y'alls expectations and start falling all over themselves, right?

When will some people just admit that Ferrari is still an extremely competent F1 team?

I'm just going to suffer from depression. It is that bad that I was off sick with whiplash and decided to back to work when I'm not able to do my job because I will go crazy. I can't even read a book because the neck gives up after 20 minutes. I also hate daytime tv.
