SteveThere has been a thread opened up elsewhere on the forum Bo'ness Meet & Greet. Not sure why it wasn't opened up on this sub-forum but what the heck!
Hope to see lots of TNFers up there this year!
you'll see me and no doubt we'll be talking at each other. I saw Alex Brown at Shelsley today and he is going to e-mail a list of entries very soon. By the way, the Vulcan is due to do a display.

Thank heavens I was due to do it solo in the first year but persuaded Paul Parker (Bristol MC etc) to be my 'wingman' and set-up each climb from the start-line so at least I knew who was coming next up the hill!
What day is the Vulcan due over?

the website says that it's not yet decided which day the Vulcan is due, but Sunday the most likely

There appears to be a fair few attendees so far if you check out the thread http://forums.autosp...howtopic=134455 , anyone from TNF going to be there?
For some obscure reason when I click the above link I get a rude message saying I am not allowed to do this. I am of course logged in so I am confused as to why this should be. However, as I live about twenty five miles from Bo'ness, I plan to ride there on a 90 year old Norton just like the many entered by Norton in the 1920 TT to have a look at the goings on... I will look like a biker and maybe any TNFr who spots me might introduce themselves as they might be less obvious to me than I am to them!!

Mr. Wilkinson's view of the first corner?!
Trust me that is NOT the view on the day at least it wasn't last year! There was a huge straw bale 'chicane' for want of a better word that was intended to intimidate the drivers into slowing down.
Horrified to see the character of the hill spoiled by those kerbs, but it seems they go for only a small stretch?
In the two events run so far people have nibbled at the bank on the inside of the Old Paddock Bend. As there are sremains of the Antonine Wall which one car ended up straddling I suspect the kerbs are there to (a) deter the nibbling of the bank and to (b) 'repel boarders'.
I'm looking forward to the two days at Bo'ness and hopefully there will be a strong TNF turn-out.

My request for 'shore leave' is in, and is awaiting the approval process.......
You may wish to consider a small gift to help with the process?

And this year too. It's this weekend, similar entry to last year, flyovers by C47 and possibly Vulcan. Will be great fun as always, Steve and me commentating so we are praying for sunshine. There has been a thread opened up elsewhere on the forum Bo'ness Meet & Greet. Personally I'll settle for it being dry!
Looking forward to the trip Up North and will be calling in at Ingliston on the way.
Highlights of this year must be:
Jon Mellor in his G.N. Beetle; Jim Payne in his Chapman Mercury One; Stewart Gordon out again in The Trice; Simon Taylor in the Stovebolt Special; David Gray in his TVR Tuscan; Geoff Hunt in the Lotus 22 Twin Cam; Simon Durling in the BT18 Buick plus many more regulars.

There's not an entry list on their site as yet which is a pity. I will not be there, going somewhere rather warmer!]
I will be visiting Bo'ness Revival for the first time this year, co-driving a very generous John Bennett's Alfa TZ. My first time in the car, and first time chuntering up a hill.
Entry list came in the post today - a good vintage and classic selection of mainly local racers - from Alex Brown's Vauxhall A/D, (also in his Martin F3) via a selection of WO Bentleys , S.Taylor in the HWM-Chev., Bucklers, Healeys, Turners, Coopers, Tigers, Terriers and all manner of other beasts.
Should be a great weekend, and delighted should any TNFers walk by and make themselves known.

Nick, am I right in assuming that you are only competing on the Sunday rather than both days?

It's a pity it never gets the entry it deserves. There are a good few historics in Scotland that don't enter and perhaps the date does not help draw in entries from further afield.
The Goodwood Revival Meeting next week-end has meant several usual competitors did not bother with Bo'ness. However trying to fit the event into another date has huge implications and would not be the work of a moment. Several of the competitors are spending the week in Scotland and then doing the British Hillclimb meeting at Doune.
I was great to see several 'new' cars at Bo'ness and hopefully they will be back next year.

The clash with the Scottish speedfair, the other historic event in Scotland on the same day seems very odd...... presumably the clash was known about at the time of the 2 events being planned. I chose Bo'ness, but to split spectators and competitors choice in this way seems crazy!
That was all down to the people at Knockhill. The dates for Bo'ness were known last year and it was the "Speed Fair" that was moved to the Revival week-end earlier this year. There was also a round of the Scottish Sprint Championship at Golspie which may not have taken away many competitors from Bo'ness but a lot of the current competitors do like to visit Bo'ness as spectators.
I did spot Marticelli tagged onto the back-end of the demo but as I hadn't been briefed about his mount and that he was even in the demo I was caught a bit on the hop!

Sorry to be a surprise addition to the demo, Stephen... The machine I was riding was an ex-works 1928 TT Model 80 Sunbeam, 350 OHV with bullnose flat tank, a rather desirable machine that sadly I don't own but was delighted to borrow for the event and to ride at the following day's Scottish Veteran and Vintage Gathering, the VMCC Auld Reekie section's answer to the well know Banbury Run. Attached is a picture of said machine at the recent centenary celebrations held in Wolverhampton to mark 100 years of Sunbeam motorcycles.I did spot Marticelli tagged onto the back-end of the demo but as I hadn't been briefed about his mount and that he was even in the demo I was caught a bit on the hop!
The problem of dates clashing is not new, and we have exactly this problem with the BHR and the VMCC SVVG, despite my suggestion that the VMCC move their event one weekend forward or back. However, this does mean I can borrow one bike and put in an appearance at both events, so its not all bad news...
Maybe next year...

What has happened to reports of the excellent Bo'ness Hillclimb Revival, which was held in unexpectedly good weather last weekend? It seems to have slipped of TNF's radar completely...
I took along the 1909 Thornycroft as a static exhibit so others could see progress on my project.
