I wouldnt know where to begin estimating the cost of setting up and running a modern era motogp team, and thats after all the initial development costs, Aprilia soon gave up with that cube thing a few years ago.
It would have been a more realistic proposition a few years ago when it was still politically correct to make the bikes look like a packet of ciggies and pull in someone like Players or Rothmans
Nice pic though

Didn't Michael Dunlop ride or was supposed to ride a Norton Wankel in last year's TT.... IIRC the ride lasted till Braddan Bridge before it cried enough

Yes young Dunlop had a go,but it just wasn't good enough. On the subject of the rotaries. At least 2 bikes exist IMHO,and they were talking of a capacity increase to make it fit the max size for rotaries in MotoGP.Ask yourself one question.Would it be useful publicity for a road based version? If they made a road bike hardly any would sell.Consider that Norton only made about a 1000 bikes, and they had a modicum of racing success Sachs/DKW/Hercules made about 1700,and they were very difficult to get rid of.Suzuki was nearly sunk financially by their RE5.I would be as happy as a pig in **** if they came back, but I fear I will remain a grumpy old sod But just in case,I will try to find a nice recipe for my rotorDidn't Michael Dunlop ride or was supposed to ride a Norton Wankel in last year's TT.... PS Bear in mind that the only guy with a real passion for racing these things no longer works for them, and even Peter Williams didn't last long enough to get his own teacup in the staff canteen!

Pack it in now and let the bike have it's place in history and don't bother with a road bike unless you want to carry a gallon of chainsaw oil everywhere
Like the bike but it's just not practical

Please excuse my ignorance, but what's the factor for classifying a Wankel chamber capacity compared to a piston engine ? Thanks

Well mines 294 so yes.I was once told that mine MUST be a 900,to which I commented that even Panther couldn't make a 900 with only one spark plug!Didn't they reckon the Rotaries were 588cc ??

30 mph off is a country mile out there and when they do go 200mph on a 7 mile straight they'll still only catch up with Honda's 500 NSR more than 10 years ago ...still there probably will be a record for rotaries unless HW takes his garage heater engined beast

This was taken at the re-opening of Donington by the CRMC, I found that Mr Walker was one of the most passionate officiado's of Norton's that I've ever met, I was also lucky enough to stick my head in through the factory doors and they seem to be doing it....
The #23 bike in the background is Andy Wilson's F1 which ran in the Manx this year piloted by Justin Shaw, The highlight of the Donington weekend was when we were able to get Chris on the factory bike and Justin on Andy's F1 out on track together.... The sound was awesome especially hearing them around the back of the track before they exploded on to the start finish straight....
Music to ones ears, let's hope Stuart and the guys at Norton can put something out in a competative racing guise as Norton deserve a place on any grid....
