Your Favorite Racing Game From The Last 10 years

GT4: A huge game that I still haven't 'completed'
F1CE: One of the first things I got when I upgraded to PS3, stunning visuals, good racing if handling a bit difficult.
DiRT 2: Really enjoyed the whole Colin McRae series, but DiRT 1 and 2 were a good step up, if now in danger of becoming a little 'Americanized'. Great mix of disciplines, great handling and cool presentation.
F1 2010: Only bugbear about this whole game is the slowness of the AI in lots of corners. Makes it too easy. First game I've really played online too.
From pre-2000 - Diddy Kong Racing on N64 I was still a kid back then so this was my life as an 8-yr old lad. Planes and Hovercraft as well as the karts!!!

Top in terms of immersion: GP2/GP3.
Top in terms of feel: F1C - rfactor.

For being released in 1999, it had amzing graphics, and the AI was very ahead of its time.
Plus, it was great fun, you had to win the GTQ, Gt3, Gt2 classes to buy a GT1 beast... man, those Callaways, Lister and McLarens were awesome.
And...something else...that game had a distinct nineties atmosphere...also in the tracks... sweet memories

Forza 3 my fav-did nobody else like it?
I'd like to get that and Xbox, but I have no extra money on that right now, and it's not very appealing to me there's monthly fees for network use.

- Mario Kart Wii: Perhaps the most fun you'll ever find on a multiplayer racing game, in my opinion. I've played every MK game, but this one is probably at the top of my list for replay value. Splitscreen play with no items and all players on the Spear/Torpedo makes for some very F1-esque races due to the game's physics and the bike's reliance on good racing lines.
- Burnout Paradise: Perhaps the most fun you'll ever find on an online multiplayer driving game, in my opinion. I've spent so many hours on this game... plus the F1 car as a final unlock is an awesome treat. I could drive that thing around for days and not get bored.
- Forza 3: Honestly one of the better sims I've played, but I haven't played that many. Probably the best all-in-one racing package for console gamers, though it could use some F1 cars.;)
- F1 2010: Yeah, it's buggy, and it fell short of a number of players' expectations, but I still have to give it credit for having all of the modern circuits, drivers, and teams. Full-distance races are a big challenge and a lot of fun.
- F-Zero GX: Without a doubt, out of all the games I've played, this one best gives a sensation of speed. No other racing game that I've ever played feels as fast as this one. In all honesty, if you go from playing an F1 game to playing this, it'll probably feel like you've stepped up from a car to a fighter jet in terms of speed. An absolutely amazing game, in my opinion.
Out of all of these, it's hard for me to choose an absolute favorite. Mario Kart Wii has the best online racing out of all of these, in my opinion, but that's probably because I've never really liked sim racers online. Too many people try to race them like it's a destruction derby.

I briefly tried rFactor and GPL but since no laptop of mine was ever made for the best of sim-racing I spent a year or so trying out the Race series by Simbin, arguably not as hardcore as rFactor but still addictive and rather challenging at the same time. Racing useless Lada 110's against Seat Leons in the 08 mod. Ah... bliss.

Sadly it doesn't like ATI-cards, but it works nearly flawless on my Nvidia - Windows 7 machine without any hacks.
At a time you could also download a lot of stuff for it, but sadly most sites have disappeared.

iRacing might be expensive but it's also awesome, way way better than GTR2 - how's the non-league online racing in GTR2?

So now, it would probably look like:
Mario Kart Wii: Some of the best online racing I've ever had has been on this game. Seriously. If you're a veteran of sims but are in the mood for something lighthearted and simplified (fast food as opposed to gourmet), grab the fast bikes and drive lines like you would on a sim and you'll be at home in no time flat.
Forza Motorsport 4: Perhaps it would be better to refer to Forza Motorsport as a series rather than referring to each of its individual installments, because I really don't think it's possible for them to make a step backwards with it at this point judging by the rate they're going, and each new game is intended to replace the old one anyway. This game's biggest asset is one that so many players seem to overlook: multi-class racing. I have more fun doing WEC/ALMS style multi-class mini-enduros than anything else on this game. I simply can't understand the people who want race-class cars and prototypes dropped from Forza altogether, I really can't.
Burnout Paradise: If you just want to go for a drive around a virtual world in pretty much any kind of car, this is your game. I don't play it as often as I used to, but it's thoroughly better than its modern day counterpart, Forza Horizon, in almost every way, I think.
For full disclosure, I don't have a lot of time for gaming, so I'm naturally predisposed to choose less-intense racers as my favourites--I think this list reflects that. I'd rather play fewer games really well, though, than play many at an average level.

Me too....
Gotta be the game I played the most when I was a kid.
Rfactor is it for me. Real racing 2 and 3 are fun on ipad. Older.... Gp2 (still play it...still mods coming out) Cart racing 2 and NASCAR racing 2. All fun.
Got gp2 to play pretty well on an android tablet.

As for the topic at hand- hadn't tried that many, but my one and only sim was GPL. Can't say I was terribly good at it but enjoyed it very much (got down to -30-something before health problems put an end to it)- but I do have a distinction in't. Not that it means very much, but I started playing it in Formula 3 and was at the time of my untimely retirement around top 10 F3 drivers and our country is still on top of F3 Nations' Cup (and 4th in GP Nation's Cup)...

I know GPL is older, but I only properly got into it with upgrades in 2006ish. I have wonderful story about GPL. My housemate at university wanted to organise some motorsport related outing for a group of friends. He's a rather big bloke and didn't want to do karting because he would lose, so he arranged for one of these sim racing places instead. I still beat the pants off him in every race but 1.
Does Grand Prix 4 count or is it too old? Even just playing with a joystick I don't think I've ever had such an "authentic" F1 experience in recent years. Purely from the point of view that I could drive it and it looked to me like the real thing or at least I felt most like I was driving like a real driver. (I find very often F1 games look twitchy when viewed back).
Nobody has mentioned the Codemasters Indycar games. I had both the original and 2005 edition (actually based on 2003) for PS2. They were a really authentic oval racing experience on console, and you could save mid-race so full length Indycar races were a real possibility. It was also very difficult. I think these were very underrated or overlooked games.

I'll probably have to say Gran Turismo 5 for being so darn fun. Motorstorm: Pacific Rift is close behind for having so much wildly crazy arcade fun.

I've had a lot of fun on F1 2005 on the PS2.
I've also enjoyed F1 Chapiomship edition and 2010-2012 on the PS3.
But my favourites would have to be a toss up between TOCA 2 , TOCA 3 , Gran Turismo 4 , Gran Turismo 5 and GRID.
I spent so many hours on the TOCA series and GRID.I completed GRID twice.
I really can't choose but I enjoyed them games so much.
I remember trying to get all the licences on GT4 too. They were so much fun.

Last 10 years is tough. More of a Viper Racing/Sports Car GT man. The only consoles I ever had were the PS1 and PS2, so in the last 10 years I guess Toca Race Driver 3 is my answer. Gran Turismo 4 was mega, but I spent 99% of my time doing time trials rather than racing.

iRacing for me.
A good fair(isn) penalty system which reduces idiots driving like, well, idiots. An organised schedule that means you know when you can get a race and you know, more often than not, it'll be a decent sized field with drivers on a similar level to you, thanks to their license system. The physics are top notch, not perfect but as a whole package its provides something to a level that i don't think anything else does currently.
The main gripe with iRacing is cost, as it is seriously expensive if you want to progress past the basic package. Ultimately cost is why i know longer use iRacing but you know what they say, you pay for what you get.

Grand Prix Legends
The original 1967 F1s, the 1965 F1s, the 1966 F1s, the 1967 F2s, the 1967 SportsCars, the 1969 F1s, the 1971 CanAms.... and soon the 1966 CanAms, the 1955 F1s, the 1951 F1s, the 1937 Grand Prix cars, the 1971 SportsCars... GPL is the history of motorsports.

iRacing hands down. Pricey but so easy to use and it's racing system is worth so much. The physics are just getting better and better each build. The tyre model finally seems to be making big strides. Only other game I fire up nowadays is Richard Burns Rally...was that within the last 10 years?

EA F1 2000 (& F1 CS 2000). Great simulator, even if the graphics were not that great. The level of setup adjustment you could do was amazing compared to dumbed-down versions of later years. There was also a telemetry plugin.

I have not really ever done any PC gaming apart from one F1 game in 2000
I know its not in the last 10 years, but my total list only features 2 from before then
F1 Championship 1997 on N64
F1 2000 on PC
F1 2006 PS3
F1 Toca Race driver 3?
F1 2013 - I really loved the classic content
Really never felt all that impressed with any of the F1 games from Codemasters. Often feel there is something missing.
Gran Turismo - Never had enough time to make my way through it.
I have quite enjoyed Grid Autosport
