The admission fee for the 1974 Brands hatch GP: 2.50 pound sterling. 1 pound for children.
The admission fee for the 2010 Silverstone GP: 400 pounds sterling for the entire weekend, 150 for race day.

Thank you Bernie. Many years in the retirement home for you hopefully. God Bless..

Well Bernie you could certainly show some ignorant French strikers how long you can really work for. :)

Happy birthday, may you spend it partying in your gold mansion ;)

On the subject of Bernie did anyone read he's releasing a biography, could be a rather interesting read.

TV coverage for the 1974 Brands Hatch Grand Prix - erm, well, not much really.
TV coverage for the 2010 Silverstone GP - qualifying and the race live.

Should be a good read indeed.

Can't understand the hate. I assume people are mainly on this site because they love and follow F1. Yet they hate the bloke who made it what it is this very day.

I have immense respect for the man.

AHEM! If bernie had his way, there would be no silverstone, there would be weight penalties for succesfull drivers, there would be drivers swapping teams every other gp, the world champion would be decided by medals and if all that crazyness still didnt convince you bernie is mad i suggest you go and rent the movie 'driven', instigated by ecclestone himself.

Yes happy birthday Bernard Charles Ecclestone.
Hope he'll stick around for many more years and looking forward to his biography.

Like Luca said:

"There are few people in this world who have a better understanding of motor sport and the business that goes with it. "

I think you've fallen into the trap of actually believing what ecclestone tells the press.

LOL. My original thought was that I'd posted the 104th "Happy Birthday" thread, as I was late to the forum last night, and you were all sick of it already...... :)

I hope I have his energy at 80. Money would'nt be bad too.

The scary thing is, if anyone has enough money to piss away trying to discover the secret of immortality, it's Bernie Ecclestone.

Still, i nerly fell off my chair when i saw the 1974 pre-ecclestone years admission fee vs now. And for pure excitement and eventfull races, i think you was better of in the 70s than the safety car led nonsense we se nowadays.

No Thanks, I know my own mind.

So

Cheers Bernie

Thanks for making F1 what it is.

I hope you are nothing to do with the "wishing people dead" camp. Jealousy and/or irrational hate??? shown above is a tad worrying.

I loathe Bernie Ecclestone with a passion, for his greed, his arrogance, his veniality, his total lack of ethics and for all the massive damage that he has done to the sport that I love.

I wish to see him gone as soon as ever possible. But not dead, just gone well away from motorsport where he can cause no more trouble.

Happy Birthday I suppose. He may be a daft guy sometimes but he does what is best for Formula One and it's strange to think of F1 without him and what would happen? I think a lot of his 'crazy ideas' comes from his dry wit with the media and they report it as proper facts :p

Love it, I would add #!ù@**££:\!§!!**~"# !!!

He said yesterday about the new teams : "We should get rid of some of those disabled".
He finds them "embarrassing" !

Bernie's obscene price hikes have been massively beyond inflation in the Euro zone for the last decade. He steps up prices 7-10% per annum.

Wait. If I remember right, Stallone wanted to do a movie about F1, but couldn't get enough info, so he decided to make it about the ChampCar World Series instead. Also:
