only 9 european races...sad sad sad

Well if we count Turkey as Europe, that gives us 9 there, 7 in Asia, 2 in Arabia, and 1 each in North America and South America. What exactly is the problem?

I guess it's a money thing, if the folks in Abu Dhabi want the last GP they'll just have to strike a deal like this year.is this calendar definitive? Cos the previous two years (2009 and 2010) Brazil was the last one as well, to then agree a swap with Abu Dhabi
As to China, some planned track changes I guess.

Is it? Logistic problems with getting all the stuff from Europe to Istanbul was underlined many times and it was pointed out before that it's probaby easier to get there from Asia.Turkey being the first race in Europse instead of Catalunya is a surprise

Is it going be treated as fly away race then?
There 3 weeks break between China and Turkey. I would rather think teams would like their cars brought back to factories that locked in DHL boxes

Everyone has to leave home someday. Europe has more races than any other region. And Russia and USA are fine editions. You want it to be a world championship don't you?

Personally I've never cared for the 'World Championship' tag. As long as there is public support for the race.Everyone has to leave home someday. Europe has more races than any other region. And Russia and USA are fine editions. You want it to be a world championship don't you?

It was an issue that getting from Monaco to Turkey in 1 week is too difficult. Nothing else.

I was going to ask that too. It doesn't make sense unless there's a major change to the circuit.
I don't count Turkey as a European race. The circuit itself is on the Asian side, as is most of the country.

The initial homologation has run out and they are going to use that stick to get repairs to the sections that have sunk in. The track is built in a swamp and floats on a years supply of Asian Styrofoam. Apparently some differences in the ground density have caused different setting of the earth and created severe bumps that modern F1 cars can't deal with.http://www.autosport...rt.php/id/87893

Sadly, yes.
Why sadly? Would you like it better if it was called 'GP of Spain II'? Is it because you don't like the track?

It's far easier to adjust your suspension settings than it is to reprofile a track. Makes for a better race too.

The teams seem to disagree with that sentiment. It's far easier to adjust your suspension settings than it is to reprofile a track. Makes for a better race too.
I'm also reading that the FiA is not satisfied with the drainage system.

Move Australia back to opening GP and it would be perfect.

For the sake of the argument it is. F1's spread is more about geo political regions than continents.
In that case Melbourne should be an American GP ;)

Interlagos finale might not be so sure as Abu Dhabi may strike a deal just like they did this year.Interlagos finale

Opening in Australia won't happen again unless they make it a night race, there's no point to let all the extra attention and publicity of the season's opening go to waste by airing the race in the the middle of the night in Europe.

Well, the Aussies themselves decided to be Asian when playing football (I assume that playing against the Kiwies every time should be boring).

What was wrong with Abu Dhabi? I remember the race last year being pretty good, with a decent amount of overtaking for a dry race. The Button/Webber battle for 2nd at the end was really good.Interlagos last gp of the year we can go into the winter on the back of a great race and not the shitfest that is Abu Dhabi fresh in our minds
Now if only Bernie would move Borerain from first race.......
And it produced some crackers in GP2, as well.
May not be the most characterful track but I think its a good spectacle, visual-wise and it produced good racing, so I say it deserves its place on the calendar.
I'm not gonna complain about Interlagos being the last race, though.

The only overtaking i remember was done by kamakazi Kobi, mainly because the other drivers were nervous around him and couldnt get out of his way quick enough, take him out of the race and it was pretty dull. For me Abu Dhabi is just a procession in a hotel carpark,oh theres some nice pretty colours, if you like that sort of thing. What was wrong with Abu Dhabi? Most F1 races are processional. It's the artificial flat hotel carpark bit that I don't like about it.The only overtaking i remember was done by kamakazi Kobi, mainly because the other drivers were nervous around him and couldnt get out of his way quick enough, take him out of the race and it was pretty dull. This is why im saying Interlagos should be the final GP, we end the year on a real race at a great track, and not just another processional one! Most F1 races are processional. It's the artificial flat hotel carpark bit that I don't like about it.
