Confirmed here
With backing of Embratel, the Senna name is again paired with the Lotus name in F1.
I admit for name sake senna in a lotus Renault is something I would love to see. I'm sure it will also be good for lotus in marketing. But doing it for the driver, what exactly has senna showed to make him better then the already very fast drivers they have now?
Motorsport really has a keeping it in the family problem that seems to be getting worse. The driving ability of these relatives seems to be getting worse as well.

Oh, I know why they doing it ;). I'm just sick of seeing this crap in motorsport. Too many relatives wasting good cars from all levels of the sport these days.

I'm not sure it's worth that much after this year. Sure the home audience will be excited, but they're replacing one of the most experienced guys in F1, and a pretty quick one at that, with a guy who is struggle to deal with Christian Klien.
Well said. I was impressed by how Lotus got two proper drivers for this year, but Bruno hasn't done anything remarkable. This will make the Malaysia Air Asia Team Lotus Fernandes whatever team look like a joke.

Whos to say this isnt a spot for test and reserve ? Im thinking its more along those lines than an actual seat.
It's written a bit indirectly in the article, but Senna would occupy Trulli's seat.
I wonder if Jarno will get a nice compensation for the 2 years of contract he still had. But let's wait a bit more until this is all confirmed by an official source - article says it'll happen after Abu Dhabi.

Moves only about the money, Bruno has been rubbish
Yep, if it's a race seat I'll be quite disappointed in Fernandes and Gazza, it'd be desperation or very poor judgment.

Senna has been dismal and blown away most of the time by his various teammates. its obvious they are only buying a name, not a driver.

He out qualified Chandock 6-2 i believe and when both finished the race (rarely) it was 1-1, he's out qualified and raced Yamamoto pretty much every weekend (which he should) and only Klien has managed to beat him which is understandable being the more experienced driver. Not forgetting Turkey and Canada when he managed to get the HRT in front of some of the other teams, which other drivers have managed that in this car. You have to wonder if people really pay attention sometimes, thankfully it appears Lotus have...
Please show me where Chandock deserves a seat over Senna??? Senna blew him away in GP2 also just for the record.

Exactly. But because Chandock spoke well in the commentators box, everyone thinks he's world class. He's not and shouldn't have been in F1 in the 1st place. IMO

Senna's been better than Chandok, although not by much. Klien is clearly the best of the Hispania harem, and noone is interested in hiring him AFAIK.I'm amazed he has a seat next year and Chandhok doesn't.

It'll be nice to see Bruno in a more competitive car. He'll have to pickup his game against Kova, Bruno won't have any excuses next year.

Chandhok did give a better impression as Senna during the races though and he was supposed to be just the 2nd driver. I was personally a little bit disspointed by Senna this season, expected him to solidly beat Chandhok which he didn't and the difference between them during qualifying was not that much and worse: Yamamoto beating Senna in qualifying recently. I don't doubt that Senna is a talented driver but maybe he lost his momentum when he switched to sportscars last year, one year out of single seaters can cause adaptation problems. Still the prospect of the Senna name linked to Lotus is a nice one.
Yeah look what it did to Schumacher's career. It destroyed him

As it will be probalby more competitive next year it will still be backmarker

It should be better than all the cosworth cars and occasionally fight for some points. Expect HRT, Virgin, Toro Rosso and Williams to be the backmarkers.

Bingo... sympathy for a nice guy, but poor in GP2 at some good teams (he was destroyed by Bruno at iSport) and nothing special in the Hispania... at least Bruno has outdriven the car on quite a few occasions this season...

and how the hell are Lotus going to suddenly be points runners?
When you combine the names Lotus and Senna, you automagically get a podium capable car. Or so I've learnt.

Given the latest story on Autosport, I'm left wondering which Lotus?
- "new Lotus"-Renault
- "current Lotus"-Renault

Renault engine and red bull tranny for a powertrain. Gascoyne led design. Well funded. Lotus has easily been the best of the new runners and look poised to take a big step forward. I don't expect them to be regular points winners but I do expect them to get points occasionaly, not be back markers. It is my opinion that Williams are not moving forward in any shape or form and I expect them to continue to slip backwards, F1 is a viscious game.
What? They outpaced Mercedeses and Renaults on couple of GP weekends

Senna know the car much more than Klien, and he was largelly defeat by him at Singapour, and once again in Interlagos.. For me it's not understandable.
Senna was (marginally, but still) faster than Klien in FP3.

Senna to Lotus? Which one? Fernadez' team or the current Renault squad?
Thats what I started to think at first when all of this was coming out, then I thought about his current sponsors and I believe, if the story is true, that it is the team currently known as Lotus.

Who's blown Senna away then ? Quite the opposite, besides the car's the rubbish not the driver. Whatever anyway we always get this pathetic attitude towards those at the back of the grid, Senna is quicker than Chandok, Yamamoto and even Klien today and look at his experience !I'm amazed he has a seat next year and Chandhok doesn't.

I think Bruno Senna was rather good in GP2 and rather good at his Honda test and as good as could ever be expected at HRT so what's the problem ?

He also mentions that he is currently negotiating with other teams too and nothing is settled.
He makes clear that, however is the team that he could race next year, sponsorship has been the most important requirement.

How long will the great name carry this horribly average racing driver?
Why does it bother you and some people so much though? as there are plenty of so called average drivers in the grid.

How long will the great name carry this horribly average racing driver?
There are people saying that he is carrying the heavier and slightly damaged chassis, which Yamamoto and Klien do not have that problem. Remember, he is one of the taller drivers on the grid which does have a small impact. So if it is true that his car is sub-standard to that of his teammates, yet he is still beating them, it does give an indication that he is not that bad a driver.
That car has had no upgrades this year unlike Virgin and Lotus. The best he can ever do is start from 23rd on the grid. Someone has said (cant remember who as I am not very well), that even Alonso and Hamilton would struggle to do more than 23rd in quali in that car.
What does an F1 driver need to do? Beat his teammate and not crash due to his own mistakes.
Example, put both Bruno and Vitaly in the Renault. Which driver do you think would come higher? My guess would be Bruno.
