Will Pedro de la Rosa share inside info regarding the Pirelli tyres with Alonso?

Or does Nick know more regarding the tyres that is important?

On the basis that Pedro is testing a 2009 spec F1 car, I don't really that he will be able to pass much useful information to anyone TBH. The basic characteristics of the tyres will anyway be evident to everyone within a few hours of testing.

I don't know why people seem to think testing the Pirellis will be an advantae, because there is no advantage to be had. The science behind tyre compounds - polymers - is a delicate and exact one. It is likely that whatever tyres de la Rosa and Heidfeld test on will be different to the final product. Whatever knowledge they have of the tyres will be negated because of the exact composition. The only knowledge they have of the tyres will be in the broadest of strokes. Besides, all drivers will test on the Pirellis at the end of the season, and all of the teams have agreed to an identical relationship with Pirelli to prevent one team from gaining an advantage. There is nothing de la Rosa will be able to tell Alonso that Alonso cannot experience for himself - and experiencing it will be better than simply being told about it. So unless Alonso has suddenly decided that he wants to make his own racing tyres, I doubt there is much de la Rosa would be able to tell him. And even if I'm wrong and de la Rosa will have a massive advantage over the field in 2011, it's believed he is going to be racing for Hispania. Why would he give away his advantage for the sake of someone else?

Of course it's an advantage. But don't worry, Alonso will share this informations with his teammate Massa and it will be better for Massa also. :rotfl: :rotfl:

CT I think they have already signed off the first two specs for Bahrain and are doing the final testing on the wet specs at Paul Ricard next.

As Dunder said any setup info will be picked up pretty quickly in testing. If there is a requirement for the tyres such as a particular geometry or something Pirelli will pass that onto the teams (and the teams have an agreement that any information they learn about the tyres when working with Pirelli will be made available to every other team). So I don't think there could be much that they could pass on.

Why would PdlR help Alonso or anyone outside whatever potential team he drives for in 2011?

Well, my second point still holds weight: what could de la Rosa tell Alonso that Alonso couldn't learn for himself at the post-season tyre test?

They're both Spanish, so naturally they will conspire against the sport! :well:

Seriously guys... and then, some people even dare to bring up accusations of being racist as soon as the word "English" is pronounced.

Anyway, enjoy it while it lasts. Chances are you're gonna have a full year of Alonso wearing the #1 on the nose of his Ferrari.

That just means the English will have a full year to win it back.

Wow! It really hurts being an Alonso hater these days, even more being a Massa fan :)

Yes, every night after testing, Pedro send an e-mail with all the data to alonso@mclaren.co.uk
