I would love to see him at Ferrari but strongly suspect this is a fantasy.
My money is now on MW walking away from F1

Somehow, I find it hard to believe that he will be next year in Red Bull.

Do you mean FA, rather than LH, in the second option?

RBR don't want him. Nobody worth signing for wants him. I don't even know if Australia's beaches want him. He'll probably retire quietly to his UK home, superficially because he chose to, in reality because he had no other option. Rather like Kimi, Mansell et al.

I agree he's been too good for Red Bull's liking this year.

Would be nice to see with Ferrari and LH, but that ain't gonna happen. Anyway, RBR with SV is the most probable.

:) yes i stuffed that bit up...meant it to be Ferrari and FA

Got to say I am surprised at the amount of people who do want to see LH in a Ferrari.
Might be a poll in that for someone to make

He's 7-11 in quallifying with "the fastest driver on the grid" and leading him on points, he was also closing him down nicely in the last race before the safety car so i really don't see where the lack of demand would come from. I know Seb has lost more points this year but the fact remains that until a few races ago they were neck and neck in qualifying and have been roughly equal all season long on points, he deserves his dues for this season, he really stepped up to the plate.

In case Alonso wins it he may call it a day but I don't think so. He still has unfinished business and a contract to honror. If he wins it will be very likely by the magnanimous gesture of his young team mate. He is then honor bound to help Vettel in 2011 to re pay that debt of honor. If Vettel wins it against expectations he also has unfinished business and would look like a quitter to walk away.

Seeing as he's got a contract for 2011, fighting for the WDC and driving the best car on the grid, designed by A. Newey, who will be with Red Bull next year, I'd say the chances of him being at Red Bull next year are pretty good!

Just throwing out another option..... I think he might just end up as teamate to Kubica next year at Renault! He maintains his link with Renault then that he has had this year, he gets away from a team that clearly has not supported him and opens seat the seat opportunity at RB for Hulkenberg to be the perfect No.2 to Vettel.

Just a hunch! ;)

Maybe they can switch him for Lewis. Would love to see Lewis and Sebi in the same (super) car.

Likely they cannot sack him if he wins the WDC, cause that would look very silly. :rotfl:

Really ? SV has already botched it a few times this year and I reckon he can do it again. There is a chance (big one ?) that Vettel will hand Webber the championship but I don't think it will be from a magnanimous gesture. Why would he do it anyway ? Imagine if he swapped first and second positions with Webber and comes the last lap............Alonso's engine blows.

I imagine this must be a trick question but I'm not smart enough to understand the joke so I'll just go for the bleeding obvious: Mark Webber will be at Red Bull. Quitting would make him an asshat, sacking him would make Dietrich et al. asshats. I'm saying no to asshattery.

If Red Bulls reliability held up, Vettel and Hamilton would rinse the field. Most likely a Red Bull would win 95% of the races.

The RB's are just magnets on a metalroad, the griplevel is one of the best I have ever seen on a F1 car. Indeed if it was more reliable it would have won both titles 5 races ago.

I don't think Webber will be at Red Bull next season. I think his relationship with the team has broken down. If he wins the WDC he will probably decide to retire from F1, and go out on a high. If he doesn't win it he might still retire, or try to find another team. But I can't see him staying at Red Bull where he would inevitably have to play second fiddle to Vettel, and I can't see Webber wanting to become the new Felipe Massa.

Kimi got marks seat offered last year..
he declined, either because of Ferrari money or because he really wanted to rally instead.

confirmed by Marko.

.. like destroying his own car only when crashing into Webber.. again? Sure, Vettel still has a chance to grow up and work on his image. That would be nice for everybody. In particular for those who'd rather write another Lord of the Rings feat. Seb Vettel than looking in their own mirrors.

@sanjiro, you should add Renault to the poll.

Aparently some source from Enstore reported that Webber is on Renanult's list of possible drivers.

From google translate:

"Mark Webber has been added to this list. It is clear that the voltage at Red Bull Racing to cut the last week by the fight for the championship. Webber is a politically smart driver, who want everything tidy up the season is over . The chance that he goes out at Red Bull Racing and comes to us is quite large, I think, "said the source.

He wont be at RBR,i think the management already know he has signed for Ferrari and thats why he isnt getting any favorable treatment.

Renault still have a seat open but i dont think they can afford Webber and i doubt he would go there at this stage of his career.

Another well thought out post mate. It's a bit sad really to read this sought of stuff. I guess Mark's great season to date is something you simply have trouble coming to terms with. You and a few other fanboys find it impossible to write anything even remotely accurate to reality. Let go of your hate or you will only move closer to the dark side.

He'll be where he's supposed to be, seeing out his last season with RBR then probably retire. With the stellar job Webber has done do far this season RBR would be idiotic not to want to honour his contract.

Who knows, probaly hasn't decided himself,i think Renault is the fav. but Ferrari rumors won't go away. I can't find the link but Mark was quoted earlier this season as saying only for RB he probaly would have ended his career without winning a GP(the evil Dr. echoed these comments only a Month or so ago) and leaving them would be a difficult decision, didn't say he wouldn't do it thou.

Why did Vettel cause the crash in Turkey then if he so keenly wants to win the support of his team-mate (who had more WDC points at the time) !!!???

A fair driver would say "why do I have full revs when my team-mate has part revs" - lets run the same revs, and I will go to full revs when Mark does else we may tangle out here on the circuit.

erm.. a massively biased comment there IMO. Turkey was a 50/50 thing, and a misunderstanding.

I really think it will depend on how the wdc ends... If Mark wins he could retire proud of his best ever season in F1.... If Fernando wins I think Mark will end up his deal with RBR... I don´t see Mark popping out the best car of the grid being under contract for 2011....

I´d love to see Mark become wdc...

^
Wrong place for this discussion....seriously :(

Added 2 more options...sorry I had not thought the were even possible.

To the people who have suggested he may still be at RBR, whilst its quite possible,
you need to consider that (from the little we all know)
MW has been given 2 incidents that may have already allowed him to break his 2011 contract,
given that his current one is meant to contain clauses about equal treatment.
RBR may feel he has already breached it by his actions in the media.
So both parties probably have sufficient ammunition to end the contract.

Why would RBR drop MW?
Because they have made if abundantly clear SV is their man and MW has made it clear he does not want to play lap dog.

Someone above mentioned the posibility that MW has already signed with another team and whilst I dont personally think this is the case It would explain some of the behaviour we have seen from RBR and MW.

Yeah I know that was off topic...

I can't see where Mark would go from RBR

I can't see who RBR would rather have.

But as I said, Abu Dhabi events will have a massive influence on what he / they do...

If RedBull hated Mark so much they would have never renewed him, and similarly if Mark hated the RB situation he would have never agreed to renew.

IMO 90% of it is media blowing stuff out of proportion and 10% Mark trying to manipulate media to serve his own ambition (which by the way is NOT a negative thing)

So .. IMO he'll be a RedBull driver in 2011, beyond that who knows, I personally think retirement.

I agree.

But I do think Webber is a tad frustrated that Vettel is the golden child at Red Bull. Webber's always had a good deal of self-belief and has always been the fastest driver in any team he's driven for, so its probably a bit disheartening to finally have a car capable of winning but then being up against somebody who is not only probably a tad faster than him, but also has been 'nurtured' by this team a little like Lewis was nurtured by Mclaren so he knows damn well that the team would much rather see Vettel winning than Webber.

Not that Red Bull are unhappy with Webber, or that Webber is unhappy with Red Bull, though, as you say. I'm sure Mark still greatly appreciates just being able to fight for race wins and this championship, and I'm sure Red Bull appreciate how good Webber is as he's proved quite a challenge for Vettel and has helped greatly in bringing the team their well-deserved constructor's championship.

Unless Webber wins the driver's title and just wants to bow out on a high, I'm pretty sure he's gonna be around next year, alongside Vettel once again, and probably winning more races as well. I look forward to it. :)

this is a good question, maybe warrants its own thread.

will red bull continue with its young driver policy or now that it is firmly one of the big boys, will it start poaching the established stars?
