Because this board can use a bit of positive thinking (like Buttoneer suggested in the other topic).

To me it is probably McLaren, because I didn't think much of them before this season, and they handled having two stars pretty well.

Sauber perhaps as well - tough situation for the team, working steady. Getting decent results.

What about you?

Renault. A nice fresh start for them, I hope they are competitive next year.

McLaren. I hated them, now I just dislike them! A few more years of McLaren without Ron Dennis talking in riddles and I might even have neutral feelings towards the team!

Renault and Sauber probably. Renault have finally got a competitive car and Sauber are doing a steady job after awful reliability issues at the beginning of the year.

Excellent thread

For me, Lotus has been the stand-out improver. At the start I felt quite cynical about the whole thing, even though it was clear they were serious about competing and winning. That part was not in doubt because of the serious driver and engineer signings. But 'Lotus'? Fernandez has been a revelation and clearly loves the sport, and really want to do well for the name and the legacy. They took part in various events and shows as Lotus, dragging out the old machinery and reminding us all what a great name it was and still might be, They've now signed some top engine firepower for next year.

I really hope they manage to keep the name.

This team has impressed me with every press release this year.

@Dunder - interesting choices but Kubica has impressed me more than Renault per-se, although they are my runners-up. Virgin, on the other hand, had a hill to climb having messed up their fuel tank so they just can't be there for me. Not even close, sadly.

For me, Sauber.

They were left in a very difficult situation by BMW's withdrawal, and their season started disastrously.

But, they showed their professionalism and racing instinct to generate some great results and prove that their gamble on signing Kobayashi was a wise one, because he is without doubt the best rookie of the post-testing-ban era.

There is not an option for none of them. One of the new teams was always going to be better than the other two, and frankly I didn't have an opinion of any of them before the season. Red Bull have built a great car, but it and the team has been flawed. McLaren and Ferrari are acting pretty much as usual. Williams and Renault are doing what is expected of them and trying to break into the top three. Mercedes have been disappointing, but I actually expected this. I'm not trying to be negative, but apart from Red Bull, nothing is out of the ordinary, and they have show naiveness. I still have the utmost respect of all the teams for putting together such a fast safe car. Even the slowest teams are the same speed as the champions of ten years ago, (monaco) with the better ones being ten seconds quicker then ten years ago.

Lotus. Late starters, and the only new team to field a somewhat reliable car.

Quite shocking to see Kovalainen get the better of Trulli.

Lotus, absolutely. Impressed me a lot both on and off the track.

I also voted Sauber for surviving plus going forward through the season despite the situation they were left in by BMW. And although replacing de la Rosa for Heidfeld was slightly odd, it was refreshing than in such a position they stuck to the drivers that they thought would perform the best on-track, rather than go for the paydrivers. Yes they've now signed Perez for next year based on the Telmex deal, but it's not like that's completely undeserved neither.

Lotus, Virgin - doing well for new teams. Tony Fernandez looks like a top guy, great addition to F1, and Nick Wirth's CFD has delivered against all the doubters.

Red Bull too, have to give them credit for finally crashing the grandee team party

Mclaren, because they don't have the best car, but with their road car division, their driver recruitment, and accommodating attitude towards the BBC, they are clearly building for the future.

Sauber, because they warded off capricious Bavarians and Jerseyan carpet-baggers, and survived. Also they hired Kamui Kobayashi, who this year at least has been the right side of the (Zanardian) line between racy and dangerous.

Virgin, because technically they're doing something different. And we haven't really seen that in F1 since Renault debuted the outlandish 10 cylinders in their engines.

Red Bull for me. Of the top teams they have done more winning and less whinging, more creativity in design and they let the drivers get on with it.

Ferrari for me.
After all where are all those guys speaking of the 'new old pasta team comeback'?
Not only they improved much from their mid season low at turkey but a 'new old passionate fighting spirit' has arise.
Todt bland days are old news.
Forza Ferrari.

Voted for McLaren (they handled the two champions situation very nicely), Renault (no brainer) and Williams (good development rate and a certain pole position). Out of the new teams Lotus makes the best impression (however everyone seems to overlook the fact that Virgin Racing is faster recently) but I'm not sure my opinion of them changed - they are where I expected them to be.

Kubica has been fantastic "for sure" but for any team to have gone through the sort of root and branch change that they have and be able to produce a car that has been capable, on occasion, of fighting for podiums is no mean achievement.

I put Virgin up there just because of how well they recovered from that terrible start. It is clear that they are under resourced in comparison to Lotus (who have become one of my favourites) but have pretty much matched them.
