I used to race a Ex Alex Campbell sidecar that was converted from a front exit to a rear exit. I rode it when I was a Member of Team Army Racing back in the late 90s. It was a diabolical handling beast. I sold it as a rolling chassis back in 1994. I believe it went to Darwin. I'd love to know where it is now!

This is the outfit that Alex Campbell rode in the 1976 Sidecar TT, could this be the bike you bought?
I have other pictures of the outfit in action.

It would be hard to tell as the bodywork ws different and it was converted to a rear exit machine. It had the Alex Campbell Trademark Jack shaft that caused you to run a really short, (35 links I think) front chain, then a longer chain to the rear sprocked.

Did you look at the pics on the old team site? I think that there are one or two of the outfit without the bodywork.

Gav Porteous was the only person who was able to get it to handle anywhere near where it should.

I next raced Alistair Tassie's VF1000R powered outfit. Much heavier, but it handles much much better.

I miss racing outfits.......sigh......

Hello boys,
I purchased that rolling frame in 1976 and it was good handling after a few frame mods.
Went on to hold lap records at Winton, Virginia park, Lake Side even managed to pull off 2nd in the 1977 Indonesian GP
The bike was destroyed in May 1980 when we were involved in a fatal accident with Alex Campbell
