Sad to report that Alan Fraser whose Rootes based race and rally team was to the forefront of British motorsport in the late fifties and sixties died recently at his Scottish home.

As is known by some, my parents worked (and partied) with Alan in the sixties when he was running the Imps and there are several more on TNF who were also closely involved with his team.

Sad news indeed, but good to learn of his animal welfare work, which I didn't know about. RIP.

Sad news indeed i did not know Alan ,but my father worked for his Mountains Garage in the 60 s .
My father almost died of carbon monoxide poisoning if it were not for a lady returning to the garage and finding him .

RIP
Alan
My dad would be there to work on for your team up there.

I will always remember his team of immaculately turned out Imps in the mid 60s with the likes of Ray Calcutt, Bernard Unett, Nick Britain and others driving them. It was not entirely a co-incidence that the first car that I bought on passing my driving test was a Hillman Imp.

I had my driving lessons in an Imp and always took an interest in the Fraser Imps
which in the hands of Ray Calcutt seemed to be unbeatable most of the time.

Most distinctive with the Saltire on their roof.

Rest in peace.
