I'm not very sure of the actual date but it must have been around 1988-1990, I attended a stage of the Scottish here. It was very short and consisted of a downhill section on quite rough tarmac to a very tight hairpin by the Union Canal bridge, there were frogmen on duty here!, and then followed the bank of the canal on what is now no more than an overgrown footpath. does anyone remember it, or better still have any photos?? I'm sure it was run by an school mate of mine Malcolm Surgenour. Ian

Suggests a park near Falkirk.

That's the one, even better than photos. I don't remember seeing that footage at the time. Thanks for that, Graham. Cheers Ian

A pleasure Ian.

Even though I am into racing in a big way I do like rallies. The event that started the love affair was the 1971 Burmah. It started in my home town, Bishopbriggs, headed out the A803 before taking the Tak-Me-Doon road to Carron. I was into Fords in a big way then and one day, out of the blue I spotted a Ford service barge parked in the main street. I could not believe my eyes but things got better when the great man , Roger Clark appearred in his Escort. The event started late at night and we followed the first few cars to the first stage in Carron before taking to the woods to see the rest come through. An amazing experience and I was sold on rallying.
