Robert Edwards published a new Moss biography in June 2001. I'm considering ordering this book (not available locally) and would like to hear if anybody has read it yet resp. seen it.

From the excepts available at Amazon I can see that it's very detailled with lots of B&W and colour photograpies. I'm not sure if the reader's reviews published are really conclusive.

I'd appreciate any comments.

ciao Bert,
hey, how are you friend?
Bert, regarding the book, yes, i have read it.
i bought it, at Harrod's waterstones.
Harrod's did a boko signing, with sir stirling, and i actually met him at the site.
he is a very pleasant person.
regarding the book, then.
bert, the book is very nice, and like you said, it has many pictures, and the pictures, are absolutely remarkable.
the text is very good as well, and it has many original bits of information, written by robert edwards.
i truly recommend for you to buy this book.
a simply remarkable creation.

ciao,
liran biderman.

I am not sure I would have paid full-price for it, having very recently purchased 'My Cars, My Career', but I was lucky enough to get it for half price through a discount warehouse.

I enjoyed the book very much. There was some new stuff (to me, anyway) and many of the photos were originals that have never been seen before.

Being a biography rather than a 'racing record' many of the races are glossed over or more or less ignored, but that is not the point. You will get a much deeper insight into Moss the Man, especially into how his early life made him the person he is.

My sister is subscribed to this cheapo books catalogue thingy & she offered me the choice of 10 classics (including the outsider, Cry, the beloved country, black mischief etc.) or the Moss book which pp is £30, reduced to only £8.99.
I have told her to order it forthwith - I did wonder whether it was another of these crappy biography books with no research but as it's got Sir Stirling's anecdotes, mementoes etc. - it seems like a super bargain! :stoned: :)

Richie, I don't think you will be disappointed. Robert Edwards spent a LOT of time with Sir SM, so the book is pretty authentic.

Enjoy! :)

I bought it from WH Smith a few weeks ago for the reduced price of £25 (RRP is £30). I'm a bit surprised to see it priced at £8.99 by "The Book People" already. However, it is a good book and doesn't duplicate too much of the ground covered by "My Cars, My Career".Instead, it concentrates on the man rather than the machinery.

Part of it was serialised in the Daily Mail (the relationship bits) and I will buy the book when I see it discounted :)

There are bookshops around here (Hants/Sussex) selling it for £14.99 so I imagine others are doing likewise. Unfortunately they don't seem to be on line.

No, unfortunately they've stopped outside UK/Eire.
But incredible prices.
And this French resident still has a UK address.
This will cost me ..................;);)

The book came in the post today - took a sneak look at it - Oh Joy!!!
I have to wait to actually read it now until Christmas.... Oh Woe!!!
Look's like the best £9 I ever spent (except maybe March 27th 1988, but that's another story....)

Tks for yr comments! By coincidence I received the book also yesterday by post (had ordered it for £8.99 to a UK address and then forwarded - still considerably cheaper then the £30.00 Amazon asks for it....).

I've had a good look through it yesterday and - although I've not yet read a single chapter completely - thoroughly enjoyed it! Good pictures (it seems to me that quite a lot are from Moss' private collection) and the scrapbook excerpts are amazing. If anyone is interested, I will add some comments about the text later.
