OK internet experts - you have pointed me brilliantly in the right direction before - now forgive me if I ask where does one find potted biogs of drivers who have featured internationally, but not in Formula 1 nor GP racing - as at representative sports car level???

Google is perhaps a good tool to attempt to find these scarce commodities lurking about on the web. Otherwise, they basically barely exist and tend to be cryptic even when you do find them. Any names in particular?

Don - thanks - well, just one f'rinstance would be Geoff Brabham - another Manuel Reuter - John Nielsen - Tom Kristensen...those kind of perfectly well wired-up pros who never 'made it' into Formula 1, or preferred to earn a living (and actually win something) outside of it. The reason is that I have only just become aware of how restricted so many of these 'encyclopaedic' sites are, if a name doesn't appear on an F1 grid in a World Championship-qualifying race from 1950 they seem never to have existed... Come in Berardo Taraschi, all is forgiven...

The Le Mans 24 Hour yearbook gives basic details of all drivers attempting to make the field - a complete run from 1986 say would give details of most of Nielsen's career, for instance.

www.lemans.org may also be of assistance.

Doug,

If it can wait until Monday or so, I have 'potted' bios of several that might fit your criteria:

Bob Garretson
Peter Gregg
Hurley Haywood
Al Holbert
Ken Miles
Lloyd Ruby

This is an area which needs much more attention and where the F1-only maniacs have perhaps done their greatest harm -- there gazillions of sites devoted to F1, each cribbing from the same few sources & repeating the same errors unaware that there is addenda covering these, while many other equally worthy topics get scant attention.

I don't know if you are still looking for some of these information Doug, but using Martin Krejci's "sportscar race history form" will give you quite a complete overview of the sportscar racing career of any driver you can name : http://wsrp.host.sk/ . A search for good ole Bernardo Taraschi for instance gave 30 answers, while one for Geoff Brabham brought up some 150+ races. Hope this helps.

Hi all! Perhaps anyone knows something about Bob Garretson? He won the Daytona 24 hours 1981 and the Sebring 12 Hours 1978. But what is he doing now? How can I reach him? Perhaps has anyone an idea how to contact him? I want to send him a letter. Every help is very much appreciated. Thank you. Regards from Vienna - Alfred
