Or have I, as is my want, missed some sly piece of wit?

Ahhh, stupid me, I had a feeling I'd got it wrong.Originally posted by LittleChris
That's what I thought at first, then read what Doug posted a bit more carefully !
That'll teach me to post when I'm sleep-deprived - that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it.

It was your reading that left a little to be desired.
Silly thing is that I read it too... and didn't see that little key to the real meaning myself. Yet when I saw LittleChris' post and went back I saw it instantly!

And where does the name come from?

On the contrary, I think it is just what you CAN say about almost all of the other drivers, both today and in the past. Put Bernoldi or Weber or McNish in the F2002 and I think that any of them would be able to get onto the podium.Originally posted by dmj
It is more than you can say about vast majority of other today's drivers...
The difference between "ordinary" drivers, if we can use such a term about guys who reach F1, and the really special ones is the ability to get good results even when the car isn't au point. For instance, Senna wringing the neck of the recalcitrant Toleman at Monaco, or Gilles hustling that turbocharged Ferrari barge around Jerez in front of all-comers - add your own favourite here.

Jaguar isn't F2002. I agree that everyone would constantly be a podium finisher in a ferrari these days. However, I doubt that any of three drivers you mentioned would finish where Eddie did in Sunday, if they were in Jaguar...Originally posted by BRG

And I would take issue with one of those he was accused of causing, that big one in Argentina (?) with Jos Verstappen... but that's not the point here, is it?
