Well, Groups 7 and 8 were incredibly hard fought. Group 7 saw Carlos Reutemann take victory, but second place was tied between Andrea De Cesaris and Luigi Musso. Thus Musso goes through due to his higher Points to Starts ratio.

Group 8 was even tougher, Ricardo Rodriguez took a narrow victory, but second place was just snatched by oddly haired Belgian Thierry Boutsen, Jochen Mass missed out by a vote and Brave Gunnar Nilsson by just 2. Tough.

Unfortunately folks Group 9 is even tougher, in fact nightmarishly so. Whatever happens we are going to be losing a certified Grand Prix great, its up to you as to who this will be. Begin Agonizing now. As always your comments are welcome below.

They four drivers in this Group of Hell are;

1.Jack Brabham
2.Denny Hulme
3.Stuart Lewis-Evans
4.Ronnie Peterson

Stick to your guns folks.

Methinks that there are too many great drivers in this group compared to the last.

JoeFan is right, Lady Luck has played a hard trick on some drivers... I almost feel like I'd choose any of drivers listed here overall the ones in Group 8. An argument for seeding, perchance? Apparently, we'll even loose a first WDC...

Redliner, have you told us how the quartets of drivers are chosen? Sorry if I've missed the explanation.

This one is virtually impossible, but it seems that 2 are leaping ahead. I went for Sir Jack.

As much as I  Ronnie, I had to give my vote to Jack Brabham.
He did more for GP racing than Ronnie.

Tough choice all right...

Barry, I think it was explained in the preamble to the first post in the series...

And as in the end there will only be one winner, does it matter at what level we toss the others out?

Ronnie was a great, Stuart Lewis-Evans showed promise, Denny won in many types of car, Jack added his name to the nose of his... though he tried to avoid that at first.

Yes, Ray, you are right, of course; I checked back. A random draw! Therefore, we could have some unusual names in the last group, depending on who eliminates who on the way through.

But then, how else could you get Wimbledon in the F.A. Cup Final?

I'm sorry but I had to vote for NZs only F1 World Champion, I want him to get at least one vote...

as much as I appreciate what Sir Jack did for racing through all those years, emotionally there is only one winner in this group for me, and it's Ronnie all the way!!

I'm biased - I sat in Jack Brabham's #28 speedcar at the Windsor Speedway plaque unveling, plus had my photo taken in the car as well!

After the drivers competition, is there any chance of a similar competiton being done with
circuits and cars as well?

I think Denny (competitive in about anything he drove) must be a strong candidate for the title of "most underrated driver ever"....

It is a tough one and no mistake. Black Jack? The Bear? SuperSwede? Not, I think Stuart Lewis-Evans - just not in the same class as the other three. I always like Denny - shaking his fist at brainless trackside photographers standing on the apex of a corner as he drifted his car past at 100+ mph, and to expire at the wheel of a racing car at Bathurst was an almost Wagnerian touch. And Ronnie was great - such an amiable guy and such a quick driver. But in the end, I have to plump for Sir Jack Brabham.

Three WDCs are too much to ignore... as they sometimes are ignored (and as I will probably ignore them when we come to Piquet group...)
