I had a fantastic time at the Le Mans Classic the other weekend - a truly amazing collection of cars were present. If you'd like to see some photos, I've posted them at...

Hope you like them - Stefan

THose are some great shots Stefan. It looks like your access was pretty good also. What type of ticket did you have and when were the first shots taken?

Very impressed. How the heck did you get those vertically overhead shots?

I'm really glad you liked them. I'm hoping maybe one day someone will like them to give me a press pass :) I was particularly pleased with this one of the 250 GTO in the moonlight...

250 GTO in the moonlight

The Le Mans Classic is a much more relaxed affair than the June event. There was supposed to be a dress code but it wasn't enforced. You could wander about freely in all the paddocks. On friday you could even walk about the pit lane and into the garages! It was great - you really got a feel for what it's like to be part of the action.

I bought my tickets through the porsche club which allowed me acces to the grandstand. It was from one of the walkways at the back that I got the overhead shots of the Alfas. The others of the pits were taken by holding the camera over the edge of the grandstand.

I use a nikon coolpix 990 digital camera - its swivel lens is very useful for these kind of awkward shots - you can use it like a periscope.

If you get the chance go! It was a great event. Ticket prices are also quite reasonable and although there were plenty of spectators it didn't feel crowded - Le Mans is a big place. The next one's in 2 years time.

Beyond the access it looks to me that you have had some training. ;)

Very nice shots! I especially like the b&w series on the Porsche and the night shots on page 8.

Thanks for sharing those.
