On a ride back to the hotel in Indy on Saturday, Rick Knoop and I were discussing the Turbo era in Sports Cars. He told me that when Jim Busby was
running the factory BMW 320i he blew up 18 motors by the 8th race at Laguna
Seca. I find this totally amazing, I can't imagine the expense!
Secondly, when were at the Zippo GP a month or so ago, Juan Fangio II was the guest speaker at an event held at the Watkins Glen Motorsport Research
Center. He said that the first thing he did when he got to a circuit was
to find out where the fire marshals were located around the track so he knew where to drive directly if he had a turbo blow.
Can anyone shine some light on this madness?
