Sorry no place of death for Petillo. However, seeing his name reminded me of one of my favorite descriptions of him:
This is from June Ward Dougherty, Harvey Ward's daughter. His demanding traits were only exceeded by his racing ability. His miserable disposition was legend. Another car owner said that he would have loved to have Kelly drive for him, "if you could just bring him to the track in a cage and only open it to put him in the car."

If so, I'll go through some Can-Am programs down in the garage.

I know he spent time in prison. I have his autograph! Got it at Indy when I was a kid and filled up an autograph book.

Don, these are some tough ones.
I believe Louis Meyer died in a Las Vegas hospital. He had been living way out in the desert near Searchlight, Nevada.
Kelly Petillo died in either Los Angeles or Huntington Park.
I don't think I have the kind of details I had for Pete DePaolo, but I'll check (probably over the weekend).

"Survey"?
Hans explored this deeply some months ago... I don't recall there being a definite answer, but I do think (without checking) that the birth date (as in month and day) was found.
Don't quote me...

Now if this gets to Allen to keep him from digging through the programs.
And FWIW, I recall Kelly Petillo died from emphysema.

Thank you for the memories. This attention coming from you, one of the down under, chasing roos for pure pleasure, is indeed a great compliment for an islander like me, meaning that at least one qualified person remembered our hard work on that subject.
I admit that I have spent a good part of my life on the birth date matter, even on a leisure cruise around the Hawaiian Isles did I inspire a lovely lady passenger on our cruise ship to do some research on this mysterious fellow. But it was all to no avail.
However, the only person who came up with new material about David Bruce-Brown was Tony Kaye, the indomitable researcher of old style (meaning: HARD WORK), who was able to dig up more new stuff than you can find in Fred Wagner's book combined with that of Peter Helck and Julian Quattlebaum. But again no birthdate.
Don,
I think it is your turn now. Do you have any connections to the FBI?

Jim,
Thanks! That is in synch with what I had, but I then came across something quite different.....

You're welcome...but maybe we'd better co-ordinate sources. My source was the CART '88 Media Guide. What was yours?...and where did the discrepancy occur?
And no problem Allen. I've been there and done that!
Anytime one of us in this group can prevent another from digging through the deep, dank vaults...it's worth doing.

Curious, maybe... and I do like a good mystery. I'm sure others remember, Hans...
