How many United States GP's has Ferrari won?
If anybody could help it would be great, I was given this question with multiple choice answers, I came up with 8 GP's in total but that is not one of the choices I was given.
Help!!!!

Well, that is a tricky one since Ferrari won at Watkins Glen in 1975 (Lauda), 1978 (Reutemann), and 1979 (Villeneuve). Add in the three wins at Long Beach in the USGP-West in 1976 (Regazzoni), 1978 (Reutemann), and 1979 (Villeneuve). Then add in the two at Indianapolis (2000 and 2002) for Michael Schumacher in the "SAP US GP at Indianapolis" and the number loks like eight, with five in the USGP (assuming that the USGP and the SAP USGP are the same -- at Indy I kept seeing "III SAP US GP" everywhere) and three in the USGP-West.
Remember that the GP's at Las Vegas (Caesars Palace), Detroit, and Dallas were not called USGP's although the pathetic efforts at Phoenix were. I think.....

That is the answer I came up with aswell, 8, but the choices I was given were 4, 7, 9, and 10, the people that posed the question must be wrong!!

I guess it depends whether they wrote the question before the 29th of September, in which case your options of either 4 USGP or 7 USGP + US West GP wins is correct ;)

Don, since you raise the question about the official GP names... I wonder how the Long Beach Formula 1 races were officially named. Mostly these races are referred to as "USGP-West", but the http://www.longbeachgp.com website never mentions that name. Instead they simply call the races "Long Beach GP", as does the contemporary GP poster:

The "Programme cover project" has some LB GP posters and only the 1976 poster mentions the "USGP West" name.

If it is US GP's only it is 5, there are also another 3 as US Western GP's seem to come under a different class and the question was asked since the last GP so it must be 5 or 8. I have written an E-mail to them and will let you know the outcome.
For the stats see:

US GP's come under 3 different classes??

As far as I am able to find, it was indeed the "Long Beach GP" but which the journos called the "USGP-West." I also always called it the LB GP.
Indeedy, in some ways the USGP died in October 1980....
Keep in mind that Sebring December 1959 saw the running of the "II USGP" thanks to some clever thinking on the part of Alec Ulmann who ran the 1958 Riverside Times GP as the "I USGP" -- or "I USGP for Sports Cars"

Could they perhaps be assuming that any F1 race in the U.S. would be a US Grand Prix? In which case, perhaps they are including the non-championship F1 Quester GP in 1971, won by Andretti in a Ferrari. That would make the total 9.

The news is that Ferrari didn't win the USGP when it was held at the Meadowlands....

Suppose we determine it thus: any Formula 1 race that has taken place within the United States of America and that has counted towards the World Championship of Drivers. I would have thought that this is the criteria that Keithk is alluding to. Or am I being far too simplistic?
Anyway, how many Ferrari wins would that give us?

I think Keithk was asking about any F1 race held in the USA. That's how I read it.
Based on that, someone please give us a number.
I don't recall them winning in Phoenix, Dallas, Detroit, Las Vegas, Sebring or Riverside. I DO recall them winning in Long Beach and Watkins Glen, though.

Considering the naming, is it correct to conclude the following:

24-26th USGP, Indianapolis ('00-'02)
2nd-9th Long Beach GP ('76-'83)

1st-7th Detroit GP ('82-'88)
1st Dallas GP ('84)
1st-3rd USA GP, Phoenix ('89-'91)
