At Le Mans in 1967 Mario Andretti had an accident at the essses when his brakes failed. He was hit by his teammates McCluskey and Schlesser. Ford team orders were that if a Ford driver was injured in the race he was on no account to be allowed into the hands of French doctors. Mario suffered broken ribs and severe bruising to his shoulders, McCluskey helped him from the car. Can anyone tell me who actually cared for Mario. Was it the Ford Dr or the official French medics?

The story is in Mario's book published end of the sixties. He states having escaped from a
french ambulance and that he was not willing to come into french butcher's hands.
But he went to hospital, probably with the team doctor only to be Xrayed.
