Gentlemen/Ladies:

I am gathering information on Dudley Froy, who was one of just 12 people to exceed 130 MPH at Brooklands and who was the son in the first Mother-Son pilot team to fly across the Channel.
If anyone has any information as to his first race win, etc. I would be most grateful and acknowledgment will be given.
Thank You

Ron Scoma

According to my records, Dudley Froy's first win was April 23 1927 in the 50 mile Handicap held by the Sutton Motor Club at Brooklands. He was racing the Wolseley "Moth 1" originally campaigned by Captain Alastair Miller.

David Venables' "Racing 1500s" has the interesting story (with a picture) of Froy's participation in the 1931 German GP Voiturette class - his works Riley was driven all the way to Germany on the road, while he spent a week learning the circuit in a 14/45 Talbot. He then proceeded to win the class, defeating several better-fancied runners including José Scaron.

I'll just resurrect this thread!!!

I am busy doing research on an article on John Cobb, Reid Railton and the Crusader jet boat, and there is an old document stating Railton was working on a design for a land speed record car for Froy.

Has anyone one else seen/heard of this and are there any technical details to be had?

HI Steve
I doubt you will get a response from Ron Scoma who started the thread. He has disappeared from view since he had a stroke about 5 or 6 years ago. I have tried as he holds info which I would like to access. Any of our American cousins who are from the Chicago area who might make physical as opposed to electronic contact?
John
