1971 Le Mans was different because the traditional Le Mans start (drivers standing on the opposite side of the road) was replaced by a more modern driver in car start, with the cars standing in a "grid" two by two.
Besides it was, and still IS the fastest Le Mans ever.
1965 Le Mans winning drivers was Jochen Rindt, ehhh and ehhh Richie Ginther??hmmm, ( + one more I've heard )

If it was Ikuzawa then the race was at Mallory Park on July 28, 1968.

23 - as a wild guess, I'd suggest Ray Allen in a Royale...
34 - a Ford-powered Group 7 sports car?
37 - became a wild, overpaid, accident-prone rally driver... oh I see, sorry, it became the Leda didn't it?

The driver listed who did not appear was probably Jim Clark. He, of course, was racing at Hockenheim that fateful day.

With a Lancia Appia V4 engine. The car, that is, not the spaghetti.

Believe me David, I would have been in bed too if a b*****d Christmas decoration hadn't set off a f****** movement detector on my store's alarm system! I waited two hours for an engineer to arrive to reset it - when he finally got there it took him two minutes to reset, and three minutes to do the paperwork!!
Rant over - normal service will now be resumed .....

Douglas wasn't used after 1951, Dundrod wasn't used in 1954 and the last two are hillclimbs! You missed Kirkistown, but that still leaves three to find. The original question says UK, but maybe they mean British Isles? In which case add Phoenix Park, Curragh, Carrigrohane and Wicklow - but that makes 21!

Dundrod certainly was used in 1954, for a small event which counted towards the world sportscar championship. Douglas wasn't used in 1954, but it was used after 1951, again for sportscar racesOriginally posted by Vitesse2

One name missing from Mike Argetsinger's list is Beveridge Park

Ooops!
So, including Dundrod, Kirkistown and Beveridge Park that makes 19. Was Croft in operation in 1954? Or maybe Ingliston? Where's BJB's Autosport Directory when we need it?

Aintree, Beveridge Park, Blandford, Brands Hatch, Cadwell Park, Crystal Palace, Dundrod, Oulton Park, St. Helier (those are the road circuits)
then
Boreham, Brough, Charterhall, Castle Combe, Cranfield, Davidstow, Fairwood, Goodwood, Fantasticwood, Ibsley, Kiskistown, Silverstone, Snetterton, Thruxton. (Airfield tracks)
and finally
The Curragh, Phoenix Park, Wicklow (in the Republic)
BTW, I lied about Fantasticwood!

I don't think Thruxton was used for car racing in 1954 only bikes. if we are including bikes then you must add IOM Mountain circuit.Originally posted by Barry Boor

I know both Thruxton and Douglas had car races in 1953 - but you're right - on closer examination I can't find anything for 1954.
And as for my inclusion of the two hillclimbs - of course, something that does not connect cannot, by definition, be a circuit!
