A little while ago I bought this collection of driver's passes, all apparently relating to the same person. They give a little snapshot of the life of one of those types who used to treck around Europe with a racing car in an old bus or a on simple trailer, picking up starting money at one far flung circuit then proceeding the next. They might possibly have belonged to a chap named David Hitches, and perhaps FJ or small sportscar races. Does anyone have any relevant programmes or race reports that might confirm his attendance at any of these events?

19 June 1954 Race meeting Crystal Palace
29 May 1954 Daily Telegraph International Meeting Aintree
25 September 1954 Race meeting Goodwood
23 May 1959 200 Mile Relay Race Silverstone
7 May 1960 National British Race Meeting Oulton Park
9 October 1960 Coupe du Salon- Voitures Formule 2 Montlhery
8 October 1961 Coupe du Salon- Voitures Junior Montlhery
1961 3 Gran Premio Messina Circuito Laghi di Ganzirri
11 June 1962 Race meeting Crystal Palace
1 July 1962 Coupe International de Vitesse des Juniors Reims
1962 4 Circuito Internatazionale Reviera di Cesentico
1962 Race meeting Monza
1962 XII Cicuito Autobolistico Caserta
17 May 1958 Race meeting Silverstone

Source : Formula 1 Register Fact Book : Formula Junior 1958-61 and 62-64

Looks like 1962 is OK in all instances.
Have just checked the F Junior records for the remaining races of the year (incl. Crystal Palace) and here there is Mr David Hitches!

11 June 1962 Race meeting Crystal Palace"Anerley Trophy" (retired lap 4 Heat 2 exhaust pipe)

1 July 1962 Coupe International de Vitesse des Juniors Reims (12th Heat One, unknown fate in Final -he started -)

As far as 1961 is concerned, he is to be found in the 23 july 1961 III Gran Premio di Messina (11th on Heat One, 14th on the Final) BUT the 8th October 1961 Coupes du SalonĀ“s entry lists do not seem to be complete (a lot of "etc" on the records) and he is not shown.

Nothing yet on previous years...

Seems 2 days later he was at Lake Garda where he won! Must have lost his pass from that one!
The other day at the Autosport Show I acquired a book'Circuito di Garda' by Giancarlo Cavallini. It has full report and results ,incl. a photo of Lola #9 with what I assume is Mr.Hitches standing beside it helmet in hand.
