Seeing as there are many, many people here with incredible anecdotes to tell, I was wondering what the biggest 'foot in mouth' moment everybody remembers is? As a relative 'young scruff' I can't remember too many myself (apart from many Murray Walker ones ), but one that comes to mind is Peter Warr saying in late 1984 that Nggel Mansell 'Won't win a race as long as I have a hole in my arse'.
I think Lotus' gradual decline began when their budget for 1986 took a big hit to pay for Peters surgery ;). Over to you, chaps.
Tempting fate...

DSJ's gamble with his beard?
That was a result of his insistence that Jochen Rindt would never win a Grand Epreuve...

When I first saw a picture of the Ferrari '639' in mid 1988, I immediately said it would never win a race because it looked so VERY different to everything that was racing back then! Technically, I was right, since it was the '640' that won first time out... ;)

I recall one of the Autosport journalists telling the Benetton mechanics that he would take up tapdancing if one of their cars won the Japanese GP in 1990.
They finished 1-2
