About Jean-Pierre JARIER

As you have seen, my signature is : « english godasse de plomb » which mean that after big Nige, Jean-Pierre Jarier is my favorite driver, even if I am to young for seeing him driving the famous UOP Shadow. This driver is a legend because, whatever the circuit, he was always « au taquet ».
So, I have some questions about Jean-Pierre.

First of all, I am interrested in all PICtureS of Jarier’s tests.

As I know, at the end of 1980, he was on concurrence with Big Nige for the second Lotus’ seat. I was told that he tests the Lotus with a lot of success.
I know about the Williams test at the end of 1981, but I have, till now, never seen a picture of it.

Felix Muelas, you are a champion ;) ;) ;) But, have you got another PIC of Jarier on the track driving the Williams ?

Futhermore, do you know, which was the circuit where this test took place ? I suppose : Paul Ricard or Dijon-Prenois.

A lot of thanks.

JP Jarier, King of the missed occasions!
In 1974 he would have to drive for Ferrari, but I believe that it had a contract with March and max mosley did not want to let it leave... Ferrari took Lauda , and Jarier signs for Shadow ...
One remembers his two races with the Lotus of poor Peterson at the end of 1978! Chapman had been very impressed! In 1982 he should have drive for Williams, before Reutemann signs... and is withdrawn... ( sorry for my english ! )

Hi nigel5

Did you know that Enzo Ferrari had his (Jarier's) signature on a conteact to drive for Ferrari in Formula One back in 1974. The drive only went to Niki Lauda because Max Mosley wouldn't release him from his March contract, unlees Ferrari paid a lot of money, which the old man didn't want to pay. Later Don Nichols did and Jarier ended up driving for Shadow that season - but that we know.

What might have been :(

Best regards

English, it is in the Feb 2003 issue, with a good article on some of the last privateers.
