but I love to get rides with him in them at age 3-4, 90mph in trafic on jefferson [lake side drive]
before most at chevy or GM had seen a vett.
I cryed when he and elsie moved to their own house!!!!! :
I was 4 then!!
but guess that was my first car nut memory
and at that age I could spot and name allmost all cars I saw on the road too
but best car spot was a real royal bug at the super sub shop on 8st in miami
it belonged to a hennry N of miami springs a collector trader in gt-40 and other exotic cars
maybe the last one ever used as a going out to dinner car to a sub shop!!!!

While the '53 vette (straight 6, pushrod, cast iron hulk and the 2-speed powerglide automatic) wasnt much by todays standards, it was still a rather revolutionary car. Any chance you parents may have taken some photos of you & the 'vette ?

I have many friends in the Grosse Pointe area and have visited there many, many times.
I have a short story along those same lines... A dear, departed friend, whose family was and still is, very close to the Ford family, as they lived in the same neighborhood of Grosse Pointe Farms.
William Clay Ford, as the story goes, if I recall correctly, gave my pal a ride in a GT40 down Lakeshore Dr at well over a 100 mph. This was sometime in the early '70's.
Some kind of fun...

I remember a minor fight and no pic's riff with dad and Zora [GM ORDERS}
90 many have been a later v8 pre production cars colors keep changeing tooo
and look at this was said offten when he had a new toy on one, sticks early on toooo
never remember a auto, but I was 3 going on 4 then, so not a big deal, cars were the thing
and he was MR vett so for sale options or tune didnot mean a lot to him for his test cars

A 'vette with three on the tree.
"Well, Zora, we hunted around in the parts bins and the best we could come up with that had a floor change was a 1928 truck box. And some guy in Australia wanted to buy that to put into some race car with a Hudson engine... money's money you know! And anyway, it was a four speed..."

I found this old ad in a 7-51 R&T mag pg 35
""270-hp from a ford V-8
On a recent test a 296 ci ford V-8'
running ardun heads,howard fuel injection
and a howard cam,
produced 270 hp at 5000 rpm""
this at a time of dreams of a 200hp ford v8fh
with full race custom parts were still dreams
any speed or hotrod parts ZORA
wanted were avalible to him [free]
the speed guys would be glad to
send their GUY AT GM new toys
to test on ZORA's new cars
in hopes of a later sale to GM
stick shift thats a real minor job
if he could and did build
OHV heads for a flathead
