My friend Terry Cornelius has a Healey 3000 well advanced in restoration. It comes from America and he's very keen to find the history of its competition life.

Originally black, it was painted a mid-blue and white and shows many many scars from various battles. On the front 'fenders' were 'Western Michigan Region' SCCA stickers and it had two brass plaques stuck on the dash bearing the following inscriptions:

ALLEGAN TIME TRIALS
KSCC
MAY 1961

and...

ISCC
CHECK POINTS
ALPINE SPEED CLIMB II
SEPTEMBER 10, 1961

I'm hoping Hangtown Healey will see this, but if anyone knows anything about the car, the driver, the racing its done or its crashes is welcome to add to the very small amount Terry currently knows about his car.

Oh, yes, it has two 2" SU carbies, a pretty hefty cam, an overdrive gearbox and it's a 2 + 2 Mk 1 model (BT7). It arrived fitted with 14" 5-stud US Racing mag wheels that were so wide they stuck out the sides of the car, though there was considerable effort made to the body at the rear for these wheels... it's possible the car didn't ever have wire wheels then.

Ray,
Here are some candidates from a Michegan race. There might be some Elkhart Lake candidates also. Do you have any remnants of Race numbers?
Dang, the Aussies still getting our good Healeys, just like the 100S raids of the 70's.

The number that's still on the doors is 75...

This was by no means a 'good' Healey, Terry has had to remake sections of the chassis... but it will be a 'good' Healey when he's done.

Ray,
The photographer that took Michigan SCCA events in the early 60's (took my Waterford Hills 1962 Healey pictures) is apparently still around. Al Bizler . His phone number is listed at the Waterford Hills web site. Ask him for his Healey photo's and see what he says.

Al Bizer was good... I rang him, he agreed to check his negatives through those years for me. Thanks for the tip.

What we need to do, of course, is encourage a bloke like that to be posting here... but he doesn't have the net yet...
