I searched, but could not find any mentioning of the upcoming (?) simulator Racing Legends here in TNF. Here is a car from that simulator:

Why is it that on this image of the Lotus 49 the 'Ford' on the engine is the right way around while the race number and the advertising are reversed? Shome mishtake shurely?

Not at all. That model is just a render from 3dsmax and still work in progress. It's common work practice to "mirror" textures from one side of an object to the other, until the model is in the last stages of modelling.

However, 1968 DFVs did not have the Ford oval logo on them. The Ford lettering was in a simple block type style

When did they have the oval logo? I don't remember them like that at all. But then....

Nice pic though. It is currently my wall paper. But it will soon go unless somebody mends the half mirrored, half not, strangeness. (Beyond my Photoshop skills)

If you take the pic into Photoshop and do "Flip Horizontally", everything but the Ford logo on the engine becomes ok.

Which you can also do with Irfanview, if you don't have Photoshop...

Dead right there about the block lettering. Black finish with the 'FORD' milled clean.
