i am about to perhaps get involved with a 1969-70 abarth scorpione 1300S.....it's basically a fiat 850 pan with a lombardi "grand prix"bodywork[an OTAS basically]....delivered to abarth it gets a berlina corsa front and rear coil-over suspension...close ratio 850 gearbox attached to a 1300 cc abarthized fiat pushrod ..4 wheel discs..fat campis...big-ass pipes looming from undder the grp back panel..you know,a typical carlo creation..

so, with much searching i can find photos many specs but no production numbers.....so, were they homologated? how many were made?...is it worth the trouble???[i'd have to part with a nice 356 coupe to pull it off.]

help???

I don't know if they were homologated - but as far as I know they were not raced in group 3 or 4; and anything else would have made even less sense.
And Abarth-Simca 1300 was a far better proposition.
Nice street car though.

Doesn't appear to have been homologated. I have the 1972 Yellow Book and the only GT Abarth is in Gp4 - the 1000 OTS Coupé. There are four others in Gp2.

A picture may be, if it is a coupe two door built by Lombardi look alike a 1900 GT opel ?

I saw only one in the mid seventies for sale at 10 000 Bf or 250 Euros complete as new
what a pity you have to contact the french Abarth club I hope they will help you, in Belgium there is one "doctor" Mousset expert of Italian rarities with Fiat engine but I haven't his phone or address

Correct name of the "carrozzeria" that designed and built the car is Francis Lombardi, founded in Vercelli - Italy. Well known make of creators of small Fiat's funny versions: I recall the Coccinella from Fiat 500, and Lucciola from Fiat 600.
This OTAS Abarth was originally called "Francis Lombardi Grand Prix" :eek:

and was created from the Fiat 850 coupè, with a design similar to a little Maserati Ghibli... :rolleyes:

I don't recall any race... perhaps in Italian Gt Championship... :confused:

I remember an other Fiat 850 "specialized", designed by Carrozzeria Moretti, classified 21. at the Targa Florio 1967, drivers Giuseppe Parla and "Sastri": I founded a pic of the car: Posted Image
